This bustling area is home to a wonderful cultural arts scene, including Kaserne Basel, the city's premier performing arts theater. There is a variety of cuisine on offer in Altstadt Kleinbasel, including both Swiss and international restaurants as well as many bars and cafes. Museums and galleries include the Museum Kleines Klingental, a fascinating museum set in a converted monastery. Another neighborhood highlight is the 1226 Middle Bridge, which crosses the Rhine. There's also a riverside promenade that is perfect for a picnic or a coffee with a friend. It's easy to get around the neighborhood and commute to other parts of Basel using local bus and tram service.
