Excellent stay, clean, comfortable and delicious b
Stopped here overnight whilst walking the South West Coast Path. Very clean and comfortable room with everything I needed after 16 miles of walking and ahead of 20 miles the next day! Lovely period hotel, fabulous sash windows, high ceiling, warm and cosy room, really nice feel to the place. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. Extensive breakfast menu, all cooked to order. I had a delicious vegetarian breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Although a little dated, this property was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for a good nights stay. The breakfast was superb and the staff and owners were so friendly and caring. We were going to the theatre in the evening so the location couldn’t have been better (5 minutes to the centre).
We received a warm welcome from our host, and a double upgrade to a spacious and well furnished Superior room with a much appreciated power shower. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and our host very kindly let us keep our bag in the lobby and our car in the car park while we wandered around Barnstaple before leaving in the afternoon for the funeral we travelled to attend.
Lovely place. Very comfortable room. Breakfast was superb and beautifully presented. On street parking my be a little challenging. Council car park on Fair View, 5-10 minutes walk free 6pm - 8am, £2.50 all day otherwise
Everything was absolutely perfect. I was in a single room, it was upstairs and there is no lift. Not a problem for me but something to be aware of for some guests. There was everything I needed in my room. I’d have liked two glasses because I used one for my toothbrush and I wanted another one for my drink. I’m sure they’d have provided another one if I’d asked but I was in a hurry and didn’t get round to it. That was literally the only tiny thing that could have been improved! Breakfast was lovely. The bed was so comfy and cosy. I wish I could have stayed more than one night. Room service was very reasonable - glass of wine for £3.50 or a bottle for £12.95. Sandwiches with a side salad and choice of bread for £4.25-£4.95.
Clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Free wi-fi that worked well. Overall, I’m very likely to return if need accommodation in the area.
stayed fri to sun...got breakfast bags each day as i was up an out with friends early .
room was a single . beautiful style comftable an cosy.
staff were friendly an i will most deffo be back some time.
Really impressed. I was 'one of those guests' who have tricky dietary requirements. I hadn't managed to tell them in advance - my bad.
Despite this, the owner listened and was so considerate. He managed to give me a lovely breakfast which meet my needs.
The place is homely, comfortable, and warm.
They're really trying hard in these Covid times to keep people safe while still providing a nice service. We should support people like this.
Conveniently located just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Barnstaple The Yeo Vale is a very clean hotel with a helpful and friendly owner. My room was on the front and, as it's only single glazed, suffered a little from noise outside (especially Saturday night revellers).
Breakfast is still being served in a bag left outside your room owing to caution around COVID, and was perhaps a little insubstantial (the continental had two decent lumps of cheese and a slice of ham wrapped in aluminium foil, but only a tiny croissant with which to eat them (and a small pain au chocolat). It also meant making your own coffee from the courtesy tray.
A second minor grouse is that the washbasin is teeny (and hard to fill the kettle from) or wash anythng more than your hands in, but the shower was very good. The bed was comfy with a thick duvet.
There's no onsite parking; but if you're lucky (I was) there's a limited amount of free parking nearby, but otherwise there are pay and display car parks nearby.
We stayed through a difficult time what with Covid and short staffed etc but we were made welcome and they made a great effort to supply a nice breakfast under unusual circumstances.
Lovely room. Very clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The owner is a lovely guy. So helpful and accommodating. We were on a cycling holiday and he looked after our bikes and was generally helpful & friendly. Definitely recommend
Friendly and clean. Well located. Found a free parking space with no issue. These are difficult times, so the restaraunt was closed as the hotel was taking every precaution, but the breakfast bags were a great idea. Getting a nice hot bacon and egg delivered to your door in the morning is a great touch.
It was a lovely stay and the manager was very helpful. The room was immaculately clean and all the facilities were there. Plenty of teabags and milk etc and a very good full bottle of water. Two things I didn't much like. Though I was warned the low ceiling was quite tricky for a tall person and the other thing is that on hot days consideration should be given to supplying a thin blanket and sheets rather than a heavy duvet.
Owners went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We even had an upgraded room. Tasty breakfast delivered to our door each morning including freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolate. As other reviewers have said, there is some road noise but this stops at night. It didn’t pose a problem for us. Hotel is a few minutes walk from town. Good bus links for coast path walkers like ourselves. Definitely eat at Lush as really lovely place but you need to book. Fish pie to die for. We also had a Montys take away Caribbean which was delicious.

Fantastic breakfast!
Friendly welcome and wonderful breakfast, but my single room was at the front of the hotel so overlooked a road junction and my sleep was disturbed by traffic (and the sound of the pipes running through my room).
Fantastic room and lovely staff.
Very little noise from the road considering how close it was.
Very comfortable and only a five minute walk to the town's high street.
Highly recommend, friendly service great breakfast
