Great location right between Sugar Mountain and Banner Elk! Very Clean and it was perfect for our weekend trip. There was a great view of Grandfather Mountain right off of the front porch.
We couldn't have asked for a better location. The house is so close to the Wilderness Alpine Coaster, Gem Mining, downtown Boone - and our main event The Land of OZ.
I think this is the perfect for a family with 1-2 small children, or 2 adults.
Great stay!
We have been traveling for approximately 18 months and have stayed at numerous locations both in the US and abroad. This stay was by far the best. The owner was responsive and Foscoe management provided outstanding service and support. Very proactive and quick. We will definitely be staying at the Sugar Shack and/or use properties managed by Foscoe again. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful stay!!

While the cabin itself was exactly as described, we chose it exclusively for the gas fireplace! We visited on an extremely cold weekend complete with snow! The fireplace worked the evening we arrived and ran out of gas the following morning. Assuming making sure the propane tank will accommodate a three night, four day stay would be the responsibility of the management company. However, the owners were allegedly notified, but we haven’t heard anything from them either. Minimal utensils (only 4 forks total) and the shower curtain was missing three of the hooks, enabling it to be closed so you had to hold it closed while trying to shower so as not to soak the floor. This could be an awesome place to stay, but the lack of attention to detail is why we give it 2 stars.I always hesitate to give a negative review, but if they don’t know the truth, they can’t fix the problem. We were very disappointed with our stay.
Perfect little getaway for our family of three. Our son loved the space outside (it snowed lightly the whole time) and the cabin had all the essentials for the extended weekend.
Had one small issue which you guys handled quietly and quickly. The location was quiet and close to everything we wanted.I would suggest removing the strings of lights on the front porch. They light up the inside all night.
Cute cabin in a great location! Close to a wide variety of things to do and places to go! Lovely outdoor and indoor living spaces! The front porch has a swing and it was relaxing! Hope to come back soon!
A great little cabin that had a great view from the porch. Everything you would need was provided, and it was immaculately clean and comfortable. It was also close to Boone and Blowing Rock and many wonderful hiking trails.
Great comfy little place. Great Location. Observations:- Bed Sheets: fitted sheet not exactly, prob need new.- Bath Towels: prob need new, had a mildew smell.- Shower Curtain: same as towels- Ironing board was damaged (legs) as if someone tried to close at some point and didn’t understand how to and tried to force close.Door side glass: every other door/window had blinds but this one, negates complete privacy especially at the entry way and having neighbors up and next door.Exterior French doors: Needs to be fixed for security measures. Can just push open from the outside with little force.
This cabin was exactly as described. So cute and comfy. The location-fantastic. Easy access to both Sugar, Grandfather, and Beech Mountains.
Awesome points- Fireplace was easy to work and with our FL family, my kids wanted it on nearly every moment we were in the house. The porch was great with gorgeous views. The kitchen had nearly everything we needed and it was very clean and easy to use. The linens were really comfy and so were the beds. The door lock was easy to operate. The loft was adorable. Ceiling height was a bit of a challenge for my 6'2" teenager but short folks would not have an issue. Haha.
Points to note if you book- the entrance to the street is basically a secret passage through the woods. Nearly hidden in the dark when we arrived. When the lights are out, the cabin is difficult to locate so if you can arrive while the sun is up, do so. We found it after a few minutes and my minivan didnt have an issue getting up the driveway. Had it been snowy that might have different. There wasnt a cookie sheet in the cabin so making quick frozen things like chicken nuggets for the kids took creativity but that could be easily remedied. There is not a lot of insulation between the loft and the downstairs bedroom so privacy between the two bedrooms should not be expected. Its not a problem, just something to note.
All these things are minor and we would definitely rent this cabin again and recommend it for others!
We truly loved our stay at this cabin at Banner Elk. The cabin itself is both cozy and picturesque. It was the perfect place to stay in with family during a snowstorm. There’s enough space to play board games as well as read books by the fire. It is also located centrally. It took us only about 5 minutes to drive to Sugar Mountain Resort to ski and the restaurants and ski rentals are also a few minutes away. All in all, a lovely stay and would definitely rent again in the future. We gave the check-in process a 4 because it was difficult to find the cabin if arriving at dark, but this could easily be remedied by
leaving some lights on on arrival day. Foscoe Rentals was easy to work with - they provided plenty of information for a smooth check in and check out and it was easy to reach them when we had a question.
