The doors were locked, phones disconnected, and website links broken. Someone from the area walking by informed us that the hotel had apparently closed down. We were left stranded in Baltimore without a place to stay and hand to find friends to stay with at the last minute. Words cannot express how remotely not okay this is. We checked in during a downpour. Someone left the window open in the first room we were given. We called the front desk, asked for another room, and closed the window. That made no difference, as rain continued to pour in through the top of the frame. We were given the room above, which was dry. However, the next morning we discovered the window pane from the bathroom window laying on the fire escape. My room was dirt cheap and I didn't expect much for that price. I didn't get much, either. From a service standpoint, the daytime manager was very friendly and efficient. I'll address the night clerk later. The hotel is very old, no surprise there. No elevators, and apparently- no real air conditioning either. Rooms were a decent size and clean enough, though a little dark due to being lit only by floor/desk lamps. Again, for the price, this was all fair enough- I was in town for a party so when I got home from that- late at night, I found I couldn't get into the hotel again. It was 2am, and I (and another couple also trapped outside the hotel lobby) rang the doorbell and knocked many times, and even tried calling the hotel. Nothing worked. We finally made enough noise to alert some other hotel guests inside. When we got in, we discovered the hotel employee in the lobby, fast asleep.
