Riverfront cabin, on a secluded section of the Middle Branch, Pere Marquette
Welcome to the Swinging Fly cabin! It’s a true cabin in the woods located on the Middle Branch of the Pere Marquette River in Baldwin Michigan (trout season applies on this section of river). It’s been recently remodeled from top to bottom - it’s a gem to be enjoyed year round. The Swinging Fly is located on 8.2 acres of property which includes 1,320 feet of private river frontage. You can fish right out the back of the cabin, or a short five minute drive down the road and you're floating on the headwaters of the Pere Marquette’s famous flies-only waters (year round fishing). There is also canoeing and hiking trails available. Try a section of North Country National Scenic Trail, it's the longest in the National Trails System, stretching 4,800 miles across eight states from North Dakota to Vermont and it passes right though the Huron-Manistee National Forest. Everything was as described and better. Beautiful cabin, property and river setting. Wildlife and fish abundant. Would stay again for adventure and rest.
Perfect cabin for a weekend outing with family and friends. Very calm and quiet scenic spot for a relaxing time. The host was excellent in providing a detailed communication regarding everything. I highly recommend this place.
Nice location overlooking river east of M-37. Cottage was well equipped. Owner made process for stay easy and efficient. We will likely book here again.
The cabin itself was stocked and perfect, but what really took the cake was the grounds and the river. Being able to relax with the crystal clear waters right below while playing horse-shoes or having a fire was a great backdrop for myself and friends to catch up. The proximity to town and any river drop points was ideal. Visited Baldwin Canoe and Kayak for a trip as well and had a blast.
The guys came home raving about their weekend away. The cabin was great as was the host. Thank you for helping me make memories for the men in our family.
This log cabin in the woods has all the comforts of home, especially a fireplace that makes it so cozy you’ll never want to leave. It is so secluded from the moment you drive onto the property and the river running past the front of the cabin is just gorgeous. The owner is very responsive and gives you all the tips and info you need to make it an enjoyable and relaxing stay. It couldn’t have been a better winter getaway for us.
The cabin is beautifully tucked away and nestled in the woods, offering a peaceful and scenic retreat. It’s a perfect place to relax, with plenty of room and a serene atmosphere.
I was thrilled to see fish jumping in the mornings—this spot will be even more incredible during fishing season, and I plan to return with my wife.
Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature!”
Charles was incredibly helpful and informative. We had a great time and the space was incredibly clean and tidy. Lots of dishes to use and extra linens. Great view of the river, we even saw a muskrat!

Well appointed. Everything was in good condition, and clean. Private; no neighbors in sight. Excellent communication with Charlie throughout, including good area recommendations for grocery, dining, activities, etc.
This cabin was everything we had hoped for. Secluded, quiet, peaceful, with an abundance of wildlife. We enjoyed birdwatching and floating on the river. The fire pit was amazing. We have been taking these girl trips for the past 10 years that includes three generations of women and this is by far been our favorite. Communication was excellent with Charles.
This is a small cabin on a branch of the beautiful Pere Marquette River. The view from the large dining area window is picturesque. The cabin is beautiful inside and provides everything you need -- the best stocked place I've ever stayed at, with a very nice kitchen that has all the cookware and utensils you could want and staples like coffee, cooking oil, spices, tinfoil, laundry soap, etc. The host is an unbelievably nice guy who will do most anything to make sure you have a great stay. I could not recommend this place more highly.
Everything was in order and clean. the Host was extremely responsive, accommodating and great to chat with. The house is situated right on the river with a great private view and big fire pit.
This cabin is so wonderful we never wanted to leave! The location is so beautiful, right on the river with a big fire pit and a deck right on the river. We came to float the PM, but unfortunately got rained out but we didn’t even care because the cabin was so cozy on a rainy day. Amenities are plentiful and everything was as described. Charles is a great communicator and was very helpful. Highly recommend staying here, and we hope to return in the future!
Do you dream about the perfect place on a river? Charlie's place was the better than we imagined. A perfectly rustic fisherman's cabin in the gorgeous PM. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy coffee and breakfast over looking the river or sitting around a campfire telling stories or making a feat for family and friends. The cabin has it all for a perfect getaway. We will be staying again.
We just finished our weekend stay and had a great experience! Three of us came to Baldwin for a weekend of Steelhead Fishing (definitely not Steelhead Catching, tough weekend) and had a wonderful stay. The Cabin is situated perfectly to launch into the Flies Only section. The hosts were easy to communicate with and quite accommodating. We fished hard, relaxed harder, ate well in town (highly recommend 876) and had a great time. We'll be back- and hope the fish will be as well!
The hospitality attention to detail and warm personality exceeded my expectations. This was a family vacation with my son and grandsons they were very pleased with the peaceful surrounding and the opportunity to fish, hike, wade in water and enjoy all aspects of cottage. Each night they ended with roasting marshmallows at fire pit.
Beautiful, relaxing and scenic with just the right touches to help you enjoy blessings of family.
The property, set back from the main roads and on a beautiful stretch of river, is spectacular. The elevated view provides a wide view of the river at it winds along the property. The woods on both sides provided for nice hikes and more opportunities to take in the river. The cabin itself was perfect. Quaint but not small. We enjoyed time around the fire, dinner table, and kitchen island. The separate bunk room was an added bonus and perfect for kids, parents, or both!Really appreciate how thought-out everything was--from the booking to check-in process, to the amenities in the cabin itself. Felt like I had been there a dozen times!
My friends and I had a wonderful weekend! Cabin is as advertised! Secluded enough for privacy but just a quick few minutes to town for extra supplies. Cabin is clean and nicely stocked for your stay. Play some horse shoes and enjoy the company or take a few steps down to the pristine river and throw some flies. Only "negative" comments from any of us (7 in total) were be careful not to catch your hand in the small bathroom ( the door handle and counter are really close!). And the condensation pan for the A/C unit in the 3rd room could be better. Had to keep an eye on it so it didn't over flow and ruin the floor. If that's the only issues, we would still book again in a heartbeat! You will love your stay and the hosts are very quick to respond to any questions! Great place! Thanks Charles!
