About this property

1600s Listed Cottage Town Centre Dogs Welcome Fire

  • Step inside a piece of Derbyshire history. Dial Cottage dates to the 1600s - a Grade II listed stone cottage tucked in the heart of Bakewell, with the town's cafes, pubs and famous market just a two-minute walk from your front door. Inside, the character runs deep: antique furniture, velvet and leather seating, an open fire, and an enchanting walled courtyard hidden behind an "Alice door" that you'll want to keep entirely to yourself.

Deceptively spacious, the cottage sleeps up to 8 across four bedrooms, with two bathrooms, a large kitchen-diner seating 8, and a sun-trap courtyard for summer evenings. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome - two small dogs can join you, with private parking just across the road.

Chatsworth House is 15 minutes away, Haddon Hall is even closer, and the Peak District National Park is quite literally on your doorstep.

Our property offers the perfect blend of comfort and convenience - whether you’re here to explore the beautiful surroundings, enjoy a peaceful retreat, or spend quality time with loved ones.

Luxury, character, antiques, open fire & comfort - this is what our cottage can offer you!

You enter Dial Cottage via a small porchway where you can kick off your shoes, take off your coats and start to relax immediately.

The property then moves into the large-sized kitchen-diner that seats 8. Perfect for those family or friends gatherings.

You can also enter the charming courtyard up the stone steps and through the Alice door to the rear of the kitchen.

You can spend lovely, relaxing summer evenings sitting out in this cosy, special place, sipping your chilled glass of wine unseen.

From the kitchen, you will step down into the luxurious lounge with velvet and leather seating and be able to look at the abundance of antique furniture.

There is a quirky snug with a comfortable daybed off the lounge, which can be divided by a thick curtain. This provides a private sleeping area for one of our guests to stay.

Please note that this area has a power bank for charging iPads, smartphones, etc.

From the lounge, there are a few steps up, into the clever downstairs shower/utility room with a discreet washing machine in the cupboard unit.

Moving to the upper floor via an open staircase, there is a family bathroom with egg shaped bath and 3 bedrooms.

1 x King bedroom for 3 or 4, comprising a king bed for 2 and a day bed and pull-out bed.
    1 x King bedroom for 2
    1 x Single bedroom for 1
1 x Ground floor snug bedroom for 1 (off the living room)

All the bedrooms have been sympathetically designed to be in keeping with the rich history of Dial Cottage.

Guests have full access to the property and one parking space, which is private and located just across the road from the property.

You will enter the property via a lockbox with a code.

The cottage is near a road, so you may hear some noise during busier travel times

Unfortunately, we do not allow stag or hen parties - please check with us before booking large parties of guests

We do welcome well-behaved dogs. All we ask is that you bring your bed, blankets and that dogs are not allowed on the furniture or upstairs on the bed linen. We also only accept up to 2 small dogs. Should we discover any areas of concern with soiled areas or the cleanliness of the property after you have left, you may incur an additional cleaning fee.

We also need to be informed prior to your arrival of the type & amount of dogs you are bringing. This helps the housekeeping teams allocate enough time to clean before the next guest arrivals.

You can unload your vehicle outside the property - parking on the single yellow line

    Free private parking space:
Once unloaded, please park your vehicle near the church, which is free or in the Dial Cottage park space. Across the road, slightly downhill, there is a drive down to a barn - high wall on right hand side & a house on the left-hand side with a 5 bar gate at the end

The parking space is on the right-hand side before the gate, and there is a sign on the wall saying - Parking for Dial Cottage

There is also a small courtyard behind the property, and all we ask is that this is kept clean and tidy from any rubbish or anything left behind by your dog.
