Brook cottage in Baslow next to Chatsworth Park
Traditional cottage in the popular village of Baslow with bathroom and downstairs wc
Great local amenities within walking distance
Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac leading to the river
Ideally situated for walks along the Derwent river, into Chatsworth estate or up onto the moors
Living area with dining table and a separate cosy sitting room
A delightful cottage located by the river in the sought after village of Baslow, adjacent to the pedestrian entrance to Chatsworth Park. This refurbished 18th century cottage has original features over 3 floors. It is ideally positioned in this popular village close to excellent local amenities which include 2 village shops and a choice of restaurants, cafes and gastropubs. There is also a fine dining restaurant at Baslow Hall. A short stroll over the river is the entrance to Chatsworth Park and all its attractions. Bakewell and Haddon Hall are within less than 7 miles. The market town of Chesterfield, with its crooked spire and Hardwick Hall are about 20-30 minutes drive, as are Edale and the Hope valley. This is a prime walking area with so many walks from the front door. Go up onto the edges ( stunning views over the Hope valley) or walk along the river Derwent as far as Derby- if you have the energy.
The cottage was renovated over winter 2018 and the living accommodation enhanced, in line with recommendations from guest reviews to the previous owners. A downstairs toilet and dishwasher were also added. However, the property has steep and narrow stairs so is unsuitable for disabled visitors. It has since been redecorated as needed to maintain an extremely high standard of accommodation, including a recent bathroom renovation.
You enter the cottage into a generous living/dining room, with access to a kitchen and utility room at the rear, off which is a downstairs wc. The living room has a wood burning stove in the original fireplace and a music centre. From the kitchen, the back door leads to a paved courtyard with table, chairs and a BBQ. The kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, fridge with icebox, dishwasher, microwave and washer. On the first floor is a cosy sitting room with a smart TV, DVD player and spacious bathroom with a separate shower, bath, wc and hand basin. Stairs lead up to the second floor bedrooms. The rear bedroom has a king size zip and link bed which can be split into 2 singles. The front room has a double bed and fitted cupboards, with views from the velux window towards the park.
There is wireless internet throughout the property.
A first come first served parking space is available over the bridge for residents or there is ample parking in the village car park 100m away. We do ask that guests respect the parking restrictions outside the property, except for loading and unloading, for the sake of our neighbours. High chair and cot are available. Bedding and towels are provided.
A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at a charge of £20 per dog but should not go on soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.

Ideal property in fantastic location. Simple but had everything we needed. Very clean and well presented. Exactly what we needed for our mini break. Thank you
The cottage is on 3 floors and is described perfectly online. It is a well equipped, comfortable, beautiful cottage. It's location is ideal for many walks.
Lovely cottage in great location ! Next to Devonshire arms pub/restaurant , and many other options within 5 miles , great walks, and villages , highly recommend !
We loved the cottage and its location. It was just was just how we imagined it might be from the listing information. We had a great stay and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Delightful cottage, a few minutes away from Chatsworth Park. Parking was available a short distance away. Would recommend.
A lovely cottage with original features in a perfect location for access to The Peak District. Very comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere. Will definitely stay again.
Brook Cottage is a very lovely place to stay. It has everything we need for a comfortable stay in Derbyshire. It is situated in Baslow and only a stones throw from the Chatsworth Estate. Thank you Jane for a great holiday.
It is a sweet home, well furnished with surprising space on three floors. The stairs are very steep but not a problem for us. Great location only a few paces from the Chatsworth estate and from the centre of Baslow, the nicest village in the Derbyshire Dales.
Stunning cottage in the best location. We didn’t have a car so location was key. Within a couple of minutes walk you are in the Chatsworth Estate. The local bus stop is just across the road which is great for using the hop on hop off open top bus in the summer. Also a great Italian restaurant in Baslow. I highly recommend this cottage & will definitely rebook.
Great location for access to Chatsworth and Peak District . Clean and comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Absolutely loved being able to walk to Chatsworth House from the cottage and to walk in the Parkland at any time. Also proximity to choice of places to eat. in the village
We were only staying for three nights which was a shame as could have done with longer.. We found the cottage easily, it was warm, clean and comfortable. Great walking from the front door. We hopped on a bus to Bakewell and had a wander around the town and hopped on a bus back. Would thoroughly recommend
Booked to stay to attend Chatsworth bonfires. Shane we discover kissing gate a bit late having pain for parking at Chatsworth. Well appointed cottage and perfect for walks from the door step. Cafe on the corner for breakfast and plenty of pubs for meals. Perfect !
Everything about Baslow and the cottage was lovely with the only exception being the double bed and linen in the main room which could have been more comfortable.
Beautiful cottage which has been tastefully restored and is spotless. It is right beside the footpaths into the Chatsworth Estate so there are beautiful walks from the doorstep.
Baslow is a thriving village with plenty of places to eat.
There is a lovely outdoor space but because of the layout of the other cottages it is very overlooked. Worth knowing but still a 5 star cottage.
Great base for us and our Golden Retriever Alfie, including walks from the door, including into the Chatsworth Estate and to Baslow Edge.
Amenities and what to expect in the cottage were all in line with the property descriptions and previous reviews.
Very nice cottage just minutes from pedestrian entrance to chatsworth house.
Unfortunately our 2 dogs arent used to people outside walking by and people walk by from 5am which meant we got a barking symphony very regularly!
The dogs loved the park and the peaks.
Pubs and places to eat close by.
Everything we needed in cottage and a bottle of preseco waiting which is a nice touch
Brook Cottage was an excellent choice from the moment we booked! Jane communicated everything we needed to know prior to our stay, which was vital since we were traveling from overseas directly to Baslow. The location is perfect! Our daily walks in Chatsworth park were dreamy and exactly why we chose the location. The cottage was lovely and provided us every single thing we needed for our holiday that week. Our bed was very comfortable, as was the entire cottage. Baslow is such a warm and friendly village, and Devonshire Arms sits close by so we could enjoy a pint after our walks. Brook Cottage was an absolute gem to find and we plan on returning again and again! Thank you, Jane!
This is a beautiful stone cottage set in a quaint village with direct walking access to the chatsworth estate through a kissing gate. It is set over 3 levels. On the ground Dining and kitchen, Second floor sitting room and enormous bathroom with bath and shower, 3rd floor 2 double bedrooms. One caution is the spiral stairs which were quite steep.
Everything has been done to a very high standard. The roof support is a tree trunk. Quite impressive.
Ate breakfast at Wheatsheaf over the road. Parked for free opposite wi. Grocery at coop in Calver. It also has a lovely coffee shop
Great stay
What a great find this property is! The property owner, Jane, has produced a perfect bolthole ideally located minutes from the grounds of Chatsworth House. We were visiting the Christmas Fayre this time and were able to park safely near the property and use or legs and public transport to get around! There is a bus stop across the road. Excellent location. The property is decorated to a high standard with comfortable beds. Lots of kitchen utensils and even a washing machine and airer which were useful in the muddy wet weather. Dog friendly with a handy courtyard and village green nearby. The only thing to be aware of is the steep stairs, okay for us but not for anyone with mobility issues. Jane was perfect host, quick to reply to messages and left some wine and milk for our arrival. Would definitely recommend this property. Thank you
