"The owner doesn’t speak English but there was someone there to manage that. This was perfect for viewing the Eclipse and I believe for anyone on the Camino. Not close to any other town but that wasn’t needed by us. I thought it was perfect."

Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda

Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda

8/10 Good
"The parador is so beautiful. Superbly and sensitively refurbished. The massive four poster was amazing and all the staff were helpful. The town itself is a little run down and feels like it’s been rather left behind. Many closed shops and bars, empty houses and overgrown lots."

Palacio de Casafuerte

Palacio de Casafuerte

10/10 Excellent
"Staff were excellent at check-in and throughout the stay. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant is also very nice, although being in Spain, it did not open for dinner until 9pm. In the bar, drinks and tapas were available in the afternoon. Huge wine selection. Parking was onsite and free. The only negative was that the toilet in our room continued to run water (sometimes, not always). Overall I highly recommend this hotel."

Zabala Martinez AT La Piedra

Zabala Martinez AT La Piedra

8/10 Good
"The apartment was clean and amazingly located within the town centre. There was the option to park right outside the building. The instructions on how to access the keys and the apartment itself were excellent. “Mountain views” meant views to the wall of a massive rock a few meters away. The apartment was clean and spacious. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable (the back was solid) and the supplementary bed was super soft and squeaky, with any small movement. The toilets were clean although the ensuit loo was lifting from the floor and there was no hand soap, only gel/shampoo sachets which we found really poor, a small hand soap bar would have been great. Overall, this was a good place to stay overnight and should we return, we would make sure to bring our own toiletries! The hosts were polite and really helpful providing great communication and guidance."
