About this property
Newly renovated home with an open and spacious floor plan! <br>
This newly renovated property has worn many hats in its life. Starting out as a church around 100 years ago and now recently transformed into a 3 bedroom and 1.5 bathroom home. With this 2000+ sqft single floor living, high ceilings, and a very open floor plan this home was built for entertaining. You will find that everything within its walls is new and has been completely redone. The full bathroom has a large walk-in shower with more shower heads than one could count on a single hand.
This property is located in Painesdale which is about 10 miles from Houghton. Access to the snowmobile/atv trail is close by and you will find this property has plenty of parking for your vehicles, trailers, and toys. This home would make a great home base for large groups looking to get away in the U.P.
Disclaimer: This property isn’t 100% finished and it’s current price reflects that. The fireplace doesn’t work, the deck hasn’t been built yet and some minor finishing trim work has not been completed. All these things will be getting done as time allows and will be noted.

Absolutely loved this well stocked property. Spacious and clean with a great location. Quick drive to many different local favorite spots. We will definitely look for with property for future stays.
Very spacious and new, beds were comfortable and shower was amazing! Plenty of towels. Kitchen was well equipped, more so than other places. They are still working on the place and believe there will be a laundry room eventually, that would be a hugh asset.
This was was such a beautiful and amazing place. The beds were comfy. Your description was perfect about little things needing the be finished, but in no way impacted our stay. In fact we are talking about making it a MUST stay place the next time we come to the UP!
Went up snowmobiling with a group of 5 guys. Everything was as advertised and worked good for us. Nice clean and roomy inside. Trailer parking was tight because of snow banks with a 28’ gooseneck enclosed.
We were in town for a wedding in South Range and this place was the perfect spot for our group. Extremely affordable, clean, and spacious. Host took a while to respond to messages but was very understanding when they responded. Would definitely stay here again!
The house was absolutely perfect for our family to explore the Keweenaw Peninsula. Everything we wanted to see seemed to be within an hour drive. House was clean and all amenities were exactly what we needed for a home away from home stay. Thank you!
We come up every summer and happened across this listing. I am so glad we did. It was just my immediate family but we had extended family stop for a bit and it was so spacious, perfect for entertaining. We loved everything about it and hope to be back next summer!
Place was very well laid out and clean. The open area of the kitchen, dining, living room were larger than expected. Nice big kitchen with island was great to socialize around for celebrating college graduation. Nice shower and bathroom. All around one of the nicer rentals in houghton area.
We came from Ohio to ride the trails of the Keweenaw. Such a beautiful area. This house is very conveniently located by the trail 3. Its right behind the high school also by a Mine. The home is beautifully decorated and so large. They really did a nice job on renovation.
Nice place we’ve stayed at before and I’m sure will stay again in the future! Clean and comfortable and super easy check out. There are still renovations taking place but minor like the trim finishing and some painting touchup. The fireplace is not a working fireplace perhaps in the future. Bring a few extra blankets if you get cold easily it can be chilly since it’s a big living area to heat. Great for a family or in our case three couples. Close to the snowmobile trail.
This kitchen has everything you will need. Everything! The property is beautifully clean, very spacious, and the shower is perfect to help you relax and warm up after outdoor adventures. Responsive and responsible property owner who is a dream to work with. If my daughter chooses Tech, we will stay here again and again.
My family and I enjoyed this as our base for exploring the Keweenaw and Porkies. It’s in a quiet town on the main road. Not a ton of traffic, so it wasn’t an issue. The space is very nice. It’s listed as not 100% finished, but don’t let that sway you. It was easy for us to look past the minor finishing that needs to be done and enjoy the space that it was. It was wide open in the living area with very high ceilings. It was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again.
Overall, we had a great stay! The house (previous church!) was very clean and the furniture was in very good shape. We stayed here for a couple of nights for a quick snowmobile trip and it worked out very well. The house is very wide open in the living areas. I could almost picture the pews when it was a church! Everything is as described - mostly finished but the little details are still a work in progress. The host, Jeff, made sure we had plenty of room to park our 4 place trailer and truck - and there was room for additional trailers as well. Jeff always responded quickly when we had a question or two. Would definitely stay here again for future trips!
We needed a home base as we moved our son to college. This home fit our needs perfectly! The property is exactly as it is described, I would venture to a well appointed work in progress. The kitchen was everything we needed, the full bath had magic in the form of a shower, and the beds were pretty good after a day spent hauling stuff up to a dorm room. Jeff was awesome making sure we had no issue finding the house (hint pull the geo pin from the map!). For us, this home was exactly what we needed for a fast trip to Houghton.
Internally a beautiful place but externally unattractive
This is a wonderful place to stay for a moderate sized group. The nearness to Houghton is a big plus with shopping and restaurants. It is beautiful inside and well furnished with numerous thoughtful amenities.
The walk-in shower is extraordinary but the three water controls are confusing. Leave some documentation on how these work and what they control. Secondly, the kitchen is spacious and beautiful but needs better lighting above the sink and stove to see what one is doing.
My wife and I as well as our friend highly recommend staying here while in the UP of Michigan.

Liked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Nice inside
Overall a nice place to stay. Outside, parking was so close to the road where logging trucks constantly drive through. Thermostat needs directions visible to the guests, had difficulty getting it to work and the only response was “open the thermostat and it will give directions “, which is why we contacted him in the first place. But he did have window ac units so we just turned those on and made due. Recommend a bigger bed in the main bedroom for couples and a binder with local favorite attractions, restaurants, map etc would be helpful for visitors to the area. Lots of room especially since it just the two of us. Enjoyed the keurig.
As noted in the listing, this location is not completely in a finished state. It doesn't appear that any more work will be done on it. The kitchen and bathroom were nice. We liked the gas stove and the baggies/foil, etc. available in the drawer. There was a lot of space which was great. However, the fridge hadn't been wiped out, and some food was left in the freezer. The outside of the building looks terrible, and the area felt a bit sketchy. We didn't spend a lot of time in the VRBO, so it wasn't a big deal. We used it as a base to get to Houghton, the northern Keweenaw Peninsula, and the Porcupine Mountains. Some things we didn't like: 1. No disposal in the kitchen sink, 2. The dishwasher wasn't properly attached so it lurched forward when full, 3. No window covering in the half bath, 4. No tissues in the bathrooms, 5. No washer/dryer, 6. The door entrance code was extremely generic which made us feel uncomfortable (this was a biggie!).
