About this property

Down East Waterfront Quaint Farmhouse with Pier Overlooking National Seashore

  • Enjoy beautiful 180-degree views of the Core Sound with star lit nights in this historic quaint waterfront farmhouse. Get away and into the solitude of this charming fishing community. Wake up and sip your coffee to the most incredible sunrises over the barrier Islands of Cape Lookout National Seashore. Our Farmhouse was built throughout the first half 20 century and is very charming with characteristics of years past. The steps may be quirky and the floors unlevel, but this just adds to its charm and unexpected beauty. At one point in history, it was a USO station; note the room numbers on the upstairs bedroom doors.

As you enter the house from the back porch, you enter the full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and six burner gas stove perfect for preparing your freshly caught seafood feast! Kitchen is fully equipped with new cookware, cooking utensils and basic staples. Full set of dinner ware. Keurig station provides some of your favorite teas and coffee. Breakfast table seats 6.

Laundry room is in ½ bath just off the kitchen with stackable washer and dryer.

Transition from the kitchen to the well-appointed dining room with seating for 8. You will find games and puzzles in the built-in cabinetry.

The living room has a cozy sectional with recliners at each end. Large screen smart TV.

The master bedroom is just off the living room with a private bathroom. The bathroom is not full enclosed at the top (see photo).

Upstairs you will find two waterfront bedrooms, one TV/family room and a back bedroom with two twin beds and one double bed perfect for the kids. The upstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Outside you will find a back porch with rocking chairs that leads to a lovely side porch with a two-person swing, picnic table and gas grill. The front porch has relaxing Adirondack chairs and hammock.

Walk off the porch and into the spacious yard overlooking the water which allows for outdoor games, frisbee, and kite flying. Walk onto the 200' pier and start fishing, crabbing and boating. Bring your kayaks, paddle boards and motorized boats. Keep in mind the sound is very shallow and only allows for shallow bottom boats. It is also important to have a depth finder, knowledge of channel markers and proper navigation in coastal waters. Water shoes are also a must as the sound has oysters, shells, and other sharp objects. If you bring your boat you will want to scoot over to the National Seashore or "the banks" as they are locally called where you will get the rare opportunity to experience the outer banks as nature intended. Fish Ophelia Inlet for trophy Drum or hop just a couple of miles out to an artificial reef for Sea Bass. If you don't bring a boat don't worry, you can also catch a private ferry over to the banks from the Morris Marina Ferry 5 minutes away (Seasonal so check schedule).

The town of Atlantic is a charming fishing village with meandering streets lined with beautiful live oaks and wax myrtles so bring your bikes and explore. Enjoy lunch at White Point Take Out or Paddy’s By The Sea. For dinner, enjoy Wild Wills Revenge. The closest grocery stores are 20-30 miles so make sure to plan meals and food ahead. There is a Dollar General 5 minutes away but food selection is limited.

Cedar Island beach is a 20-minute ride away where they offer horseback riding on the beach. Catch the ferry from Cedar Island to historic Ocracoke Island a great full day trip (2.5hrs ferry one way).

Harkers Island is also a lovely village to visit with the Amazing Core Sound Waterfowl Muesum and Heritage Center.

Historic Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach are 30 miles away and offers amazing golf, dining and shopping. The North Carolina Aquarium at PIne Knolls Shore is 42 miles away and a great half day excursion.

We look forward to your stay. Please note there is an exterior security camera facing the driveway and back entrance of the property.
