Fantastic location and wonderful property
The location of this property is ideal. It is a beachfront property, close to local eateries and restaurants and comfortably houses a large family. Beautiful views from the balcony and the pool and hot tub are a plus. Stefan was accommodating and very easy to communicate with. Great host!

Stefan was a great host and very easy to communicate with. We enjoyed the patio area and spacious family room with the sectional. Beach access was very simple and nice views from the upstairs balcony. I would advise future guests that when it says bring your own linens that means bedding and towels for bathroom. We arrived with no towels to shower with and no toilet tissue extras so bring those with you. Aside from that nicely updated home with lots of beds.

Mermaid house right on the beach
My family and I really enjoyed our time here at this bnb. There was about 12 of us and we all slept comfortably ate breakfast while taking in the amazing views! And walked seconds to the the water when we didnt spend time at the beach the house provided alot to do together as a family being that we came together from 3 different states and this was only a weekend getaway. we totally plan on booking again this house keeps the family occupied but also provides all the leisures of downtime without ever leaving the comfort of this bnb. Thank yo so much I would love to stay again on our next vacation to the beach.

4 Generations under one roof.
Booked this place because it had a pool and was beachfront and had ample space for my family. It had that to offer and much more. My 80+ y/o grandparents flew half way around the world to visit us and I wanted to take them to the beach. This house was perfect, it was close to the beach that they could walk on soft sand, the layout of the house was great that they could get around. There were so many beds and bedrooms that everyone was comfortable. Had a slight issue with the internet but the host took care of it promptly and got someone out to fix it. The pool and deck were very nice. No complaints.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Watching dolphins from the balcony, hanging out in the hot tub, playing in the pool, just a short walk to relax on the beach… it was the perfect getaway for our family. Stefan was great to work with too!

This was a great location with lots of restaurants within walking distance. The kids had fun in the pool and hot tub, and playing the arcade games. The view from the second floor balcony was great and we had plenty of room for everyone in the house.

This is true only with off season rentals sometimes because guest are paying a fraction of the normal price. I make no money on the cleaning and VRBO fees and often lower my price offseason below that cost.

The Murray’s/Johnson’s Xmas vacation
We enjoyed our time at the Mermaid . The host was extremely helpful and provided additional information to assists with our stay/ parking . The property was well maintained , spacious and the well stocked with amenities. The views from the balcony are amazing and first row never disappoints. The home decor and renovations were beautiful. Wonderful Stay at Mermaids
Mermaids is a beautiful house and property. Our family of 9 were very comfortable there. We even had the pleasure of seeing the spectacular SpaceX launch in the sky right in front of us over the ocean! Our grandsons loved the basement room with the giant tv screen and arcade games. We will return as soon as we can. The owner was extremely pleasant and easy to contact. Our only regret was having to leave two days early because of hurricane Ian & the path it was taking over our driving routes home.

Perfect house for several families
We had a great week at the Mermaid House! Plenty of space for four families to stay and had local family members spend the day with us. Location is walking distance to restaurants and right on the beach. The pool was great for the kids and the basement was a bonus with the extra room, bathroom and the arcade games were fun! Would definitely stay here again! Stefan the owner was super friendly and easy to get in touch with.

House was absolutely beautiful and the owner was very attentive to our needs.
The house and property was absolutely beautiful, the pics don't do it justice! The only sidebar thing was the cleaners that he hired didn't do a very thorough job. But the owner was amazing at keeping the pool up while we were there (hiring someone), helping us fix the hot tub, and sending an exterminator when sand/water bugs came from next door. He was a fantastic owner and would 100% recommend! The beach pics don't do the real view justice! We spent every morning and afternoon up there looking at the beach!

Great getaway.
We had a wonderful time!We had 3 generations stay in the house. We brought our own sheets, towels and shampoo so didn't need to worry about that. Everything else was there for us. The place was spotless, and the two porches allowed us to enjoy both sunrise and sunset while eating our meals. Being right on the beach was such a pleasure for all, grandparents, parents, and kids.There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. We will be back!!

Amazing views from 2 decks
We loved our week long stay at this amazing house. the views from the decks are unbeatable. The location to beach and to the town were so convenient, we barley used the car! Bedrooms were well set up and worked well for our group of 2 families. Basement was an extra surprise and kids could take a break from sun and relax in the cool AC and watch the biggest TV they have ever seen! Kitchen needs just a little TLC but I understand it is being remodeled and we are excited to come back next year and see the changes! Of course I left my car keys behind at the house and the owner has been so kind with his follow up and getting these keys sent to me! Vacation brain! All in all the house was a huge hit for both adults and teens and we are looking at our calendar for next year! thank you for a great week!

The house was perfect for the amount of family members. Great access to the beach. We rented bikes and they delivered them and picked them up when we were ready to leave. Close to everything we needed. Had a little run in with the neighbor which involved the police but all was settled when he was taken away in handcuffs. Other than that little clinch, it was a great place to stay.

Fantastic Family Vacation Spot!
We truly enjoyed our vacation! The location, the Ocean Front view, the outdoor shower, the many bedrooms and great basement hangout area made this the perfect home for our multi generational family vacation. The teenagers enjoyed having their own space & the adults enjoyed the same. The hot tub was a nice way to end the evening. We spent so many hours enjoying the Ocean and the breeze from the upstairs balcony. The little coffee station, fridge and sink in the master bedroom was so convenient. The home is located in a prime location from the Aquarium, Putt - Putt, great restaurants and shopping. We would definitely rent this home again in the future.

Great beach getaway
We had a wonderful stay at the Mermaid House. The house features 2 huge decks overlooking the beach and is within an easy walk of an excellent restaurant/bar. Everything in the house was exactly as described, and the house was clean and cute (loved the Hoosier cabinet!) with a good internet connection in case you have to work. The hot tub was enjoyed by all and there is a nice outdoor grill with plenty of propane. We would definitely come back here again.

Right on the beach!
The location of this property really can't be beat for Atlantic Beach. Right on the water, within walking distance of the oceanfront circle of businesses and lots to do within a short driving distance. It had all we needed for two families to stay in the house. Please with our stay. It's an older house that has been renovated recently, except the bathrooms. The back porch is great for eating outside, grilling and being in the jacuzzi. Remember it doesn't come with linens. We used the service and it worked perfectly.

Very, very dirty
Stephan was very accommodating. Communication with him was sometimes challenging but he eventually got back to me on everything and went out of his way to accommodate us. What made me give the property 2 stars is that it was very dirty and somewhat in disrepair. I spent the whole first day cleaning before my mom arrived because she would have turned around and went back home had she seen it in it's original state. There was stickiness and grime on all high touch areas, food (I hope) handprints on the walls, chairs, light switches. There was thick, grimy dust covering most higher surfaces and under/behind everything. There was trash under the beds and a used bandaid in the cupboard. Dried food on all the kitchenware. I felt kind of gross the whole time. We also had a long discussion with the owner about what "toiletries" mean. Apparently it doesn't mean toilet paper, paper towel or basically anything. As far as the "disrepair," the biggest thing were the thresholds, which were loose or high and my son and mom fell/tripped over them multiple times. I'm just glad we didn't end up in the ER. Some of the windows wouldn't close at all or wouldn't lock,, which was scary in the rooms my kids were in, considering the crime rate in Atlantic Beach. The window in the room my husband and I stayed in wouldn't close and one night was very cold,, so we just had to shove a blanket in it. The walls were, how do I describe it As? Melting? Wavy and broken-like. As far as the beach location, it was great! Not crowded, lots of dolphins, nice beach. The hot tub looks like a regular size in the pictures but it's actually.only half-size.

This guest called me and started complaining days before her stay began. She told me that my cleaning fee was too high and that she should not have to rent or bring the linens and toiletries. I explained that there is always toilet paper in each bathroom but other toiletries she would have to bring. All things that are clearly stated on my VRBO listing that she knew about prior to renting. She arrived three hours before the check-in time while cleaning company was working. I received a call from her and the cleaning company that she wanted to check in early. One hour after her two and half hour early check-in I called to see if she had any questions. At that time, she complained that the cleaning company had done a terrible job. I Immediately offered to have the cleaning company return. I called the cleaning company on my wife’s phone while talking to her I let her know that the owner of the cleaning company would come. She very angerly stated that she had already finished cleaning what needed to be cleaned and that I was to not send anyone there. She then said, “ You should refund my cleaning fee.” This is the only time I had ever experienced anything like this. I work so hard to accommodate all the guest staying at my home but felt as if I was being manipulated and bullied in to compensating this guest for phony claims.

Perfect Atlantic Beach Vacation
The property was even better than the listing made it sound. The location was phenomenal. The detailed interior decor was very fun in a beach house. There was plenty of space for everyone and every bed was comfortable. Everything that we needed to prepare food was readily available. Three bathrooms and an outdoor shower made it easy for everyone. The decks were the family favorites. Having a hot tub with an ocean view and a grill on the lower deck made it a definite hangout spot. Loved having coffee on the deck waiting for the sun to come up every morning. The top deck had endless ocean views. We traveled with our dog and the beach backyard was great for her. Stefan communicated with us at the right times and was accessible as we arrived and had a few questions. Beautiful weather, dolphin sightings and big waves were a bonus! Fun fact, the mermaid on the outside of the house made it easy to identify from the beach after a long walk or after being churned for hours on the boogie boards. We can't say enough good things about our trip to Atlantic Beach! We even got a chance to meet some of the long term neighbors who were great to mingle with.

Old Gem Fixed Up
Right on the beach with great views from two decks. Sunsets are spectacular. Loved sitting in a hot tub overlooking the ocean. Owner was eager to please. Not modern home but very quaint. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Would definitely return. Morehead City and historic Beaufort less than 10 minutes away. Fort Macon interesting. Don’t miss Old Burial Ground in Beaufort. Favorite restaurant: Clawson’s in Beaufort, but kids favorite was Dank Burrito. Enjoy!

This house is adorable with never ending ocean views, especially from the upstairs deck. We had dozens of dolphin sightings and great shelling. The movie room is new and fabulous! Our host was helpful and easy to contact. We would definitely stay here again.

This was a perfect spot for an off-season getaway, right on the beach. Stephan was extremely responsive to our questions and was very committed to making sure our stay was a good one. The upper deck facing the ocean outside the main bedroom was fantastic - a great place to watch the sun coming up or going down. We took advantage of the gas grill and hot tub. The location is also great because you can walk two blocks to very good restaurants and places to watch the ocean. We will come back. Thank you!

Beach house with great location
You can't beat the location - residential area near activities, right on the beach, with scenic dunes to look at. It's an older beach house that the owner is in the process of upgrading and updating. Casual and relaxing - my children, grandchildren, and dogs all felt comfortable there. Main cons are very small kitchen and the cleaners aren't super thorough. The owner is very responsive and helpful. This was our second stay at this house, and we enjoyed both times.

LIKES: The location/beach/view from the house are great, and the owner does portray the property accurately. (Except for learning the 3rd bathroom is in the basement through a separate entrance.
