Ruckinge is a small quiet village with more amenities available in the next village of Ham Street, 3 miles. There was also a half dozen freshly laid eggs from the small flock of chickens on the farm - thankfully no cockerel to provide an early morning alarm! The views from the lodge were terrific with little to interrupt them and the great weather we had made the walks very pleasant. There are numerous footpaths and the local Military Canal to walk along. A lot of thought and planning went into the Lodge with excellent facilities and a well fenced garden area to allow dogs plenty of freedom without impacting the farm. It is remote, so the nearest Tesco Extra is about 20 minutes away, but that is why there is little light pollution and a star lit night sky. I had a wonderful stay at Peter's cottage celebrating my mum's 60th. There were 6 of us (and 2 dogs) and there was plenty of space for us all. We arranged for a supermarket delivery on the Friday evening as the cottage is quite remote - which is lovely when you wake up to silence. Peter was on hand to answer any questions we had and made sure we had a brilliant stay.
