Perfect location!! Awesome place! Very neat and clean. I also loved how it was so easy to get to from the interstate. There were 2 play grounds within walking distance, a good selection of places to eat within walking distance, and places to get drinks. The owner was quick to respond and was very accommodating. We will definitely come back!
Enjoyed our stay in sweet Saluda! The Caboose was a great location, easy walk to restaurants, parks and stores. Easy checkin, large and comfortable master bedroom and bathroom. Host was easy and quick to communicate. Upper deck is enjoyable and our 4 year old loved staying in on the train.
Enjoyed our stay at the Caboose and our first time in Saluda. There's lots of great hiking and cute little shops close by. Host was very responsive with any questions we had.
We had another great time at the caboose. As always it was easy to check in and it was clean and well stocked. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.
Sweet and unique stay in downtown Saluda, NC. The caboose was very well appointed and thoughtfully designed. It had everything we needed to enjoy a few nights in this nice little mountain town.
My best friend and I stayed in the caboose for the weekend and enjoyed Saluda and the nearby hiking. It was wonderful to be able to walk to restaurants and the place was beautiful.Communication with host was top notch!!! Makes me want to move to Saluda!!! :)
We were impressed with the cleanliness of the property! We loved the rooftop fire pit.
Be aware that during rafting season, the nearby rafting company starts up around 7:30am.
We didn't want to leave!! Such an amazing place in a really great town. The Caboose was so warm and cozy. It has everything we needed. The rooftop deck was so great in the evenings. A great little piece history. I have already recommended it to all our friends.
We really enjoyed staying at the Caboose. Great location for the areas we like to visit. Loved all the detail inside and outside! Great master addition. Look forward to another visit in the future. The weather prevented us from being able to fully enjoy the outside. We did enjoy the little time we did !
As a major Southern Railway buff, having the opportunity to stay in Central of Georgia X-61was simply outstanding. The mix of modern / rustic decor and the railroad history is just right. The way that this Caboose has been preserved and re-imagined, while being historically accurate, provides every comfort of home imaginable with some bouses!
It was an exceptional birthday surprise and I look forward to returning.
The property is within walking distance to restaurants and shops. If you have a truck or large vehicle the parking behind the caboose is very tight and turning around takes a bit more than a 03 point turn.
We enjoyed our stay in the caboose! The restoration is beautiful and the owners took care in saving a part of the history of Saluda. The property is very clean, and the special touch of complimentary wine and glasses were a very nice touch. We really enjoyed sitting on the upper deck just relaxing. I highly recommend staying in the caboose when visiting Saluda. You will not be disappointed!
This was our second stay in the caboose. We loved it as much as first - WE LOVED IT! Managers are responsive. Property is well maintained and equipped. I could spend all day on the front porch and all evening on the rooftop deck overlooking town. Look forward to visiting again in the future.
The X61 is exactly as described. Its location is perfect for enjoying all Saluda has to offer (Wildflour pizza!) while still maintaining a quiet and comfortable interior. Our grandson was hesitant to leave the cupola. He’s a train lover and was enchanted with the caboose. We appreciated the spacious, comfortable main suite. It was a memorable stay!
We had a great stay at the X61. The description of the accommodations and pictures were all very accurate. We liked the the little touches like the working railroad lamps and labeled wine glasses. It can be a little busy on the weekends with Green River Adventures right in front; however, the staff are super friendly and they did a great job making sure we had access to our driveway at all times (and we did a couple of their outings while there and they were great). The top deck is a great spot to eat and take in the sites of town; you're right on top of the action but it also feels very private. Fantastic to be able to walk to everything. Highly recommend and would stay there again.
Although modified on the inside to better accomodate guests, it is a REAL caboose complete with trucks and couplers. Did wish it had the potbelly stove for nostalgia sake, but enjoyed breakfast in the cupola. Bedroom and bath off the side was spaceous. Weather and time prevented use of the upper deck. Parking in back was "difficult" for large pickup truck, but simply parked in front at the operating railroad signal. Highly recommend the experience and the area.
Wonderful spot! Loved the train details and cleanliness of the caboose. Perfect for kids and being so walkable to Saluda. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
