was really pleased with myself finding an excellent rate for this hotel which to be fair is a basic hotel but more than adequate and importantly clean. I wasn’t however very popular with my family who report having the worsts night sleep on account of the heat experienced at the moment and the hotel not having any air conditioning. Even in the dead of night the temperature registered as being 31 degrees in the room. They did have a little desk fan in the room but the hot air was just stagnant and it didn’t spilt well between the 3 of us. In hindsight I should have spent that extra £50 and had one of the neighbouring hotels that do have air conditioning to guarantee a good nights sleep. That said it is a great little place and I wouldn’t discount in it winter months (they have heating!) but it’s not very comfortable when it’s hot. As mentioned the rooms were basic but are a good size and ideal for families with young children. Clear instructions were given for arrival after 2pm when the reception desk then becomes unstaffed. It’s in a great location with free parking. Bottles of water were appreciated only there was only one fridge to share on our whole floor located in the main hallway which was full of people’s food. Breakfast was included but wasn’t great to be honest and apart from orange juice we didn’t have anything. Staff we encountered were friendly and the hotel has a very laid back vibe.

Overall we had a great stay and staff are very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is fantastic but it’s 39 euro pp which is steep (although perhaps given the properly it’s expected). Spa is fantastic and absolutely gorgeous. We had no issues with AC given we were there in the summer. Parking is 30 euro overnight and is located downstairs - it’s independent of the hotel so they have no control over how many spaces are available etc. for example when we arrived at 8pm after a long travel day the machine to get into the garage was broken and we had to wait around 45 minutes till someone came around to fix it. Hotel had no solutions and just shrugged their shoulders. The rooms are nice but outdated - no central light switch, bathrooms are showing a lot of wear and tear, no UBS outlets. My main issue was with housekeeping - who despite having a do not disturb light AND sign on the door barged in EVERY morning. They wouldn’t even wait for us to come to the door, they would just come in. Doesn’t matter what we’re doing, doesn’t matter if we’re dressed - they felt they had full freedom to just walk in. That is ridiculous!!!!! Please train them better - that’s unacceptable. Overall you know you’re paying for location and history, but a few small nuances detracted from this feeling like a “5 star property”

Great place to stay!

We had a great room and really enjoyed the location while visiting family. We would definitely come back.
