Visit Caleta de Fuste

Antigua Travel Guide

Investigate the boutiques, bars and restaurants along the pretty seafront before indulging in beach activities: swimming, windsurfing, scuba diving and more.

Caleta de Fuste is a large community east of Antigua that attracts many vacationers with its upscale resorts, restaurants and beaches. The area is full of historic attractions that complement the relaxing seafront area. Learn about Fuerteventura’s culture and customs before sunbathing on its scenic beaches.

Visit San Buenaventura Tower, which architect Claudio de l’Isle designed in the 18th century. The iconic circular structure is made from stone. Admire its drawbridge and stone staircase.

Spend a few hours sunbathing at the beach, which is split into northern and southern sections. Stroll along the southern sandy area, artificially created with small islands with connecting bridges. The construction of the bay is considered a great success and certainly worth seeing.

On the beach, tour operators offer scuba diving, snorkeling and other aquatic activities. Explore the region from a different perspective on a camel ride. Walk along the seafront promenade as the sun begins its descent to the horizon. Feed the squirrels that were introduced to the island in the 1960s.

Climb White Mountain for the best views of the sunset, the beach and the resorts.

To get a sense of the local culture, visit the Saturday morning market. Bargain for handicrafts, clothes, food and other products.

Since the island is part of Spain, locals speak Spanish. You will encounter many tour guides and other people around the resorts and the seafront who speak good English. Tourism in the area has grown rapidly in a short period, which means you’ll find modern amenities and comfortable facilities.

Caleta de Fuste is just 4 miles (6 kilometers) south of Fuerteventura Airport. Take a taxi or shuttle bus and arrive in the community within 10 minutes. The city of Antigua is a 20-minute taxi journey west.

The beaches, accompanied by exciting activities and historic gems, make Caleta de Fuste an alluring vacation spot.
