A true American wilderness experience with total solitude. The Cabin at Black River View sits on 100 acres and has the best view in Southeast Missouri in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Overlooking the Black River and in site of the highest elevation point in Missouri, you will have no neighbors with total seclusion and quiet except for hearing the gentle rapids below. Newly built in 2016 this state of the art cabin has everything you need to entertain your family and friends. Located on a bluff near the Mark Twain National forest it has access to thousand of acres of hiking, hunting horseback riding, mountain biking, 4-wheeling and ATV trails, but the main attraction is the Black River. Crystal clear water fed from springs with a rock bottom that you can see 12 feet to the bottom, the Black River is a gentle river making canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and paddle boarding all an enjoyable experience. Local attractions include the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Johnson Shut Inns, Clearwater Lake, Elephant Rock State Park, and Sam A. Baker state park. All the luxuries of home but in the middle of nowhere. Side by side or four wheeler is almost a requirement. Average truck would not make it all the way to the river. Was perfect for the six adults and three children who gathered there to see the total solar eclipse--which we did get to see. Situated so that we didn't see the on site owners or their guests. On arrival it was clear the place had not been vacuumed for a while (lots of dead lady bugs) and a couple other minor maintenance things, which I shared with the property manager. The view was absolutely beautiful. This cabin is very remote, more so even than expected. Deb was helpful, we followed her directions carefully and got there just fine. The gps coordinates helped also. We enjoyed puzzles and games and were comfortable in the cabin, even with a large group. One down side is that there is really no easy way to the river. We tried one of the paths in a 4wd truck and it was so washed out that we barely got turned around before getting stuck in deep ruts. After that experience, we opted out of attempting other paths and just went to the public access, which was enjoyable anyway. I would strongly recommend atvs or going to the public access points, unless this road to the river gets repaired. All in all it was a very enjoyable weekend with nice accommodations, and a beautiful view. Thanks for sharing the cabin with us! ##### Kristin H. We loved the beautiful river views and the house was nice with all the accommodations needed. We went down to the river per the instructions from the house the first evening and agree that you need 4-wheel drive. We even parked our SUV on the creek bed and walked the approx. .25 mile to the river. We used two different river outfitters — Jeff’s Canoe from Annapolis, it was a great float with beautiful bluffs, very convenient from the house. The next day, we went to Franklin’s out of Lesterville — a further drive and it was much busier on that part of the river, busier spot and it was a Saturday. We still enjoyed the river and had time to check our Johnson Shut-ins and Elephant Rock State Park — both worth a visit if you’re in the area!
