Fantastic modern hotel, fantastic location for walking into Amboise, plenty of parking, extremely helpful friendly staff, well equipped and modern rooms, everything was spotlessly clean, nice breakfast. If we come back to Amboise we'll be back.

This is the perfect hotel for families. The one-bedroom apartment with pull-out sofa was very spacious. Well-equipped kitchen. Full dining table. Pool is smaller than it looks in the photos, but still good with a nice deck area. Walkable to downtown Ambroise with bakery, cafes, restaurants and shops. Air conditioning was new, strong and very effective.

La Maison Rabelais is in the heart of Amboise – well-located and nearly everything is an easy 5-10 minute walk, though the train station is on the other side of the river by 1.5 mi, necessitating a ride. Very nice breakfast – hearty and copious. While the property does NOT have A/C, the room (big and spacious) stayed cool however the ventilation system was configured. It was a little warm at night but not uncomfortable, especially considering afternoons were near 100 F/38 C. Definitely a nice property.

The hotel is in a perfect location for walking to the pedestrian areas with restaurants and shops. We paid extra to stay in a one bedroom unit that has a private patio with a hot tub and the suite was great. However, there were many issues that came up that could have been avoided if the staff took the time to help us with our luggage and show us to our room. We had trouble with opening the doors as they stuck and the key was difficult to use. The coffee machine needed to be replaced and the AC system was tricky to use but the staff were quick to respond. Housekeeping was not done by mid afternoon, only two bath towels are left. We were only left one housecoat the second day. Yes the staff were responsive when we asked for help but we expected more for the amount that we had paid. We spoke to the manager when we checked out and said small details are important. She reimbursed us for the three nights of parking that we had to pay. Off we went to Chateau Leognan for the next leg of our journey and were greeted in the parking lot, helped with luggage, offered water when registering, shown to our room…not difficult to do but certainly shows what can be done.

But sure this is close to a 4 star hotel, but it has on site parking - that was nice. The staff was very helpful but hotel is not stocked! We needed extra-pillows …. none. Maybe an extra blanket to use as a pillow - none. The staff brought me into the “stock room”; it was literally empty. The breakfast was pitiful. Really sad.

Our visit here was excellent. The property seems extraordinarily new or recently refurbished. The room was quite large given its close proximity to the downtown streets of Amboise. The staff were extremely pleasant and you could tell they are well trained/coached on ensuring positive guest experience. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Quiet hotel with an excellent staff. We used La Maison Rabelais as our base of operations as we discovered the Loire Valley region. One of the things was that it was just five minutes from a river trail where I could do my morning workout.
