Great place to stay can be a bit pricey at the bar. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. Central location large outside area at rear could be a bit noisy in summer evenings for those who are staying in the cottage. Staff were brilliant especially Alicia very efficient and always pleasant and smiling. I would definitely return and recommend

Charming pub hotel in a perfect location. Despite their being a lovely and lively bar below we did not hear anything when we went to sleep!

A good centrally based hotel in Ambleside - staff friendly rooms were clean and in good condition. Paid parking available 100m along the road. Local shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Only niggles - guy snoring in the next room was very audible and shampoo dispenser in shower didn't work. Otherwise a good relaxing stay in a lovely town. And the weather was cold but perfect!

Charming Place
Staff were great, friendly and happy to help, we didn't eat food at the hotel as we wanted to explore so we cannot comment on this. I wasn't keen on the full english breakfast, more small english breakfast, however considering the cost of the stay and my full english breakfast snobbery the hotel offered alternatives, we could have stayed eleswhere at a well known chain paid an extra £25 but where is the fun in that.

Really enjoyed our brief stay . The staff were exteremly friendly , everything was spotlessly clean and there was a great atmosphere in the pub / restaurant in the evening . Minor downsides were that fact that our room was on the 4th. floor and there is no lift , there's no on site parking and , perhaps , there could have been a greater selection of cereals for breakfast but , hey , that's being rather " picky " .

Friendly Staff, well appointed room.
Very nice hotel. Room was very well appointed with towel dryer, opening window for fresh air and a great personal view of the town. Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Great full breakfast with eggs royale with salmon and hollandaise sauce. Only 2 items to consider - stairs only to the rooms and parking is the public car park. We did not mind these, so are looking forward to coming back for another visit one day.

Nice room, poor breakfast
The room and bathroom were great and met (perhaps slightly exceeded) my expectations. The breakfast was a huge disappointment - so much so that we decided to skip it on our second day and go elsewhere.

Great location. Good food. Decent room.
Nice pub hotel in a central Ambleside location. Staff friendly and happy to help. Food good too. Room was small, but it was only a single and it did me just fine for a solo two night stay.

Loved the Temperance Inn, could not fault the place it was so clean and the staff were very helpful. The food was lovely and I would certainly recommend it. Look forward to booking again soon.

A good standard of accommodation
Stayed at other hotels within the Inn Collection group and found the Temperance to be of a similar good standard. Slightly disappointed that there wasn’t any fruit salad on offer for breakfast, which is unusual?

Good but could be better...
Great location, good breakfast and evening meal. The breakfast female staff were very polite and helpful. Room was good in terms of amenities (hairdryer, kettle, iron, safe, good wifi, etc.) but very hot and stuffy (top floor); also no daily cleaning provided or instructions what to do with a full bin. Great they provide a fan in a room as otherwise would be unbearable. The main issue for me was the live band playing on Fri night (very loud, even on the top floor you could hear the music and shouting until lime 11.30pm) as I had a hiking event next day and had to be awake before 6am; i wish the live band info was communicated on the webiste before i made a booking or just after I made a booking and not at the point of check in when it's too late to make alternative attangements. Also take into account (in case you have any mobility issues or injuries) that there is no lift so you have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs.

Value,cleanliness and great location
Staff very friendly and also very helpful with my wife needs Rooms clean and tidy, food well cooked and they do a Gluten free option as well Excellent value for money and a very nice place to stay in Ambleside close to the centre only a 2 min. walk away

Good location, nice views from room, quite small
Friendly service. We stayed in room 1 1st floor. Nice room but quite small. Bed was comfy but small double. Nice views across Todd Crag from window. Breakfast was tasty. We stayed with our dog who also had sausages and egg for breakfast. We tried lunch once ploughman's with scotch egg which was very tasty. Crusty bread was very hard crusty! Had a side of thick cut chips, not very thick and lots of scrappy bits. On our first night or neighbours in room 7 were partying until early hours lots of shouting and very noisy. Convenient location. Car parks quite close to hotel. Nice outside garden to the rear. We were advised last orders were 10.45, we went to bar at 10.40 and we're advised bar was closed. Assist from some niggles we enjoyed our stay but would look for larger rooms in future.
