Some of the ferries date back to the early 1900s, and you can really imagine yourself reliving parts from the famous book ’Swallows and Amazons’ by Arthur Ransome, or why not try to spot ‘Bownessie’, the alleged lake monster! Kids will love swinging through the trees at Go Ape in Grizedale Forest, just across the lake. For a more relaxing day with the little ones, you can visit The World Of Beatrix Potter attraction, and then Hill Top House where the famous author lived, and Peter Rabbit hopped through the gardens! Ambleside offers a huge range of things to do no matter what the weather or season. You can leave the car behind for a week and walk, cycle, shop and eat in a wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

We only used the main bedroom upstairs which was very comfortable The house was easy to keep warm on cold days. The house was well equipped with plenty of games and books if needed. Would definitely book again
