This is the heart of Austria, and close to the centre point of the mountainous country. The village of less than 2,000 inhabitants is picture postcard perfect, with well maintained wooden houses, almost all bedecked with flower boxes and hanging baskets. Not a country to live in if you don't have green fingers, I feel! On Sunday, the locals mostly wear their best leaderhosen, trachten jackets and dirndls, creating a scene straight out of the Sound of Music. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hallstatt.👍 One small suggestion for improvement: after sunset, the lighting in the living area felt a bit dim for us. Adding a few more ceiling lights could really enhance the comfort in the evenings and make the space even more perfect for guests.
