La Torre is a different cottage to its other neighbors in the special environment of Finca Rocabella, not only by its structure, similar to an ancient watchtower Islamic world, but also for its location. The farmhouse La Torre is surrounded by all kinds of native vegetation and offers to all those who decide to make a getaway vacation, stunning views of the fertile Guadalhorce Valley. This geographical location within the resort Finca Rocabella, makes enjoy a unique degree of privacy. The farmhouse La Torre has been built scrupulously respecting the traditional architecture of the area, using the Moorish brick, stone, wood and reeds as building blocks.

This idyllic, rotunder-shaped villa, with its internal winding balustrade, is simply divine. The property, gave us the impression that this was high end accommodation, due to the fact that there is little or no room to store, not just a weekly shop, but all the other bits that go with a current running kitchen. I was personally surprised that there was no garlic crusher in the cutlery tray. We made much use of the BBQ, cooking diverse fish and meats. However, flies and wasps did force us inside on a couple of occasions. The pool is of a good size and the depth is approximately 7ft at the deep end and 6ft at the shallow end, apart from climbing the steps. The pool also has a pretty little cascading waterfall. It's a shame that the pool is not visible from the Villa itself. Although the pool has lights under the water, they were never lit. On a last note, the track to the villa and some further afield will need a vehicle at least three levels up from the lowest grade of car, which is what we had. At a speed of 5km the car still slid on the track. Overall, we had a great time, not just at the villa but visiting the lakes and villages and Malaga for its shops and port. Compliments to Carlos & Susana

Relaxing get away from it all
Overall, I would highly recommend this villa, as long as you're looking for the quiet life, and are prepared to drive for 1 hour + for days out etc. The photo's on the website are exactly what you'll get - lovely villa, air con works great, lovely views etc. If you've not driven on the continent before (ie UK drivers), be warned that the roads around this area are very hairy indeed - but for us it gave us a real sense of adventure.
If I was to make and suggestions for improvements, I would say that the owners should have a 'welcome' pack in the villa for when you arrive to provide some information - ie how to get to nearest supermarket/shop (we asked and they were very accommodating, and its a 15-20 drive away in Alora), number to call in an emergency etc etc and recommended places to visit as there was no information regarding the local area, or opening times (which is very different from the UK).
Other than that, I would strongly recommend this place for those whom want relaxation and whom want to explore this area on their own terms, and whom are prepared to drive for an hour + to find great places to visit (you'll rarely get beyond 3rd gear within half an hour of the property!). We have two sons, a 7 year old and a 9 month old - we tended to alternate from a day in the villa/local area followed by a day out. Would strongly recommend a visit to the Caves at Nerja and we were really impressed with the science museum at Granada....also a visit to Ronda is well worth it too. Finally, a 25 minute drive north past El Chorro to the lakes called 'Embalse del Conde de Guadalhorce' - there's a restaurant called 'El Kiosko' which is on the banks, with steps down to the lake which is great for swimming and etc. We found this place on our various exploratory drives out, but it would have been nice if there was an info pack to inform us of these places when we arrived.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly, my wife and I and our children had a great time and I would recommend.

Rocabella Villa La Torre - a blissful location in the stunning Spanish mountains
My wife and I have just returned from a week's stay (4th to 11th June 2016) at Rocabella Villa Torre. we both fell in love with the villa from seeing the pictures on the website. And on arrival, we weren't disappointed.
The villa is truly authentic with a magic 'old world' appearance. Inside the villa we found a well equipped kitchen, lovely living areas and wonderful bedrooms - with the master bedroom including a fantastic balcony looking out to the stunning mountain and valley scenery.
The garden is well grown and kept and again offers a wonderful initial view from the terrace and barbecue areas. The main focal point of the garden is the swimming pool (professionally cleaned half-way through our stay) which is also fed by a waterfall operated on a timer at various times of day to give that true outdoor feel. The pool is large and ideal for some light exercise. And again, it's all about the views, as you can look out over the valley scenery from the deep end of the infinity effect pool. Small minor point is that the pool is not heated, which was OK in June, but perhaps not in the Winter! This the only reason the score is not 5 out of 5.
The main reason for the holiday was for my wife and I to be together and have a week of relaxation. The quiet, secluded and private villa allowed us to achieve this - only seeing the pool cleaner, the staff at the local supermarket, and the staff at Rocabella Restaurant all week! We have returned from our holiday relaxed and with fantastic memories of an outstanding villa and location.
Overall, we would highly recommend the Rocabella Villa La Torre and are looking forward to returning at some point in the not-too-distant future.
