Craster Reach - a family friendly that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

The newly redecorated and refurbished mid-terrace coastal cottage welcomes you with a roomy, open-plan living area including a multi-fuel stove and sophisticated, laid-back Scandi-style sofas. It's been said that this is the perfect luxury retreat to come back to at the end of the day, especially after a bracing and beautiful coastal walk.

The fully-fitted kitchen and dining area are not unfamiliar with a feast on Christmas Day, so are more than capable of coping with the rustling up of a soothing supper. Knocking up some of the town's world-famous kippers for breakfast will provide the perfect sustenance for a day exploring the enchanting mix of fishing villages, market towns, wide-open beaches and magical castles.

This luxury coastal cottage has two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite, and a twin room with a family bathroom—white fluffy white towels are supplied. The beds are super comfy and dressed with Melin Tregwynt woollen blankets. The upper floors provide stunning views of the ragged silhouette of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Downstairs, a useful utility room and WC are located just off the kitchen - perfect for added convenience during your stay. French doors lead from the seating area to a rear deck with patio furniture, so no matter what time of day, you can sit with a refreshing drink as you plan your next adventure. Another set of French doors open out to the front of the cottage, where a perfectly positioned table and chairs allow you to take in the sea air and listen to the gulls. Don't be surprised if the enticing aroma of oak-smoked kippers wafts from the nearby L Robson & Sons. There's also handy off-road parking for two cars.

It's just a two-minute stroll to the harbour. In a world of overly manicured gastropubs, there's the wonderfully take-me-as-you-find-me Jolly Fisherman, a simple pub serving well-priced crab sandwiches that are perfect washed down with a pint of Black Sheep ale.

Luxurious comfort

We have had a thoroughly lovely holiday and we’re very impressed with the accommodation. It is very well kitted out and maintained, it felt like a real luxury stay with the beds being very comfortable and the best towels we have had in accommodation for years. We will be back

Super place to stay

Craster Reach is a lovely place to stay with all the things you need to explore the wonderful Northumberland. The close by pub was great for food and drink and we found a few new local gems like Embers for pizza. The accommodation ticked all the boxes for us and we would welcome a return.

Magical holiday in Craster

The house is extremely comfortable and has everything you would need. The location is excellent with adequate parking which is at a premium in Craster. Hope to stay there again next year.

Great holiday home

Lovely holiday home in great location with a good view of the harbour and village from the higher floors. Rooms were furnished to a nice modern standard. Only potential Issue is that there is no phone reception, but the house’s WIFI made up for this and coped easily with three teenagers and their devices!

A return visit

I stayed with family members last year and thoroughly enjoyed Craster Reach, Craster, and Northumberland in general. I returned with friends this year and introduced them to the comfort and charm of both the property and the area.

Family holiday

The house was very well appointed which suited our family who are into cooking. Beds were comfortable and the house was warm. Great location as it was quiet but still close to shop and restaurant and walking paths. Communicating with the hosts was easy and they were responsive to our needs.

The incredible views make this tucked away holiday home 5 stars!

Craster Reach is uniquely positioned to enjoy stunning views of Dunstanburgh Castle and, in the opposite direction, the coastline towards Longhouton Beach. The house was perfectly comfortable for five adults (the beds were top-notch!) and we enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine on the pretty terrace. The kitchen was really well stocked for self-catering although we enjoyed a couple of good meals at The Jolly Fisherman. We had a wonderful week exploring all the beautiful places in Northumberland but were always happy to return to our cosy home in pretty Craster.

Lovely cottage in a great location

Everything you might need is here. A warm and cosy cottage even in midwinter. Just a stroll to the friendly local pub and loads of great walks from the doorstep. Our dog loved her surprise goody bag, less so the handy hosepipe outside for sorting out muddy post walk paws! We’ll be back!

Had an exceptional 4 day stay in Craster Reach. Cottage was absolutely perfect. Everything you could possibly need was provided. I loved the fact you had the morning sun at the front of the house and evening sun at the table at the back. The utility was perfect for the dog overnight and even a hose pipe to wash him down. Views were outstanding and pup within a stones throw! Thank you Catch the Breeze for a wonderful few days.

Excellent accommodation

We had a very enjoyable stay at Craster Reach. The cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable. The views from the bedroom windows are splendid. It was so relaxing waking up to the sound of the sea. The Jolly Fisherman pub with its fish and chip van is just a few steps away but we did notice quite a increase in prices since our last visit two years ago. There is no general store in Craster so the welcome pack was much appreciated. We will definitely consider booking Craster Reach again.

Clean and comfortable

We had a lovely stay at Craster Reach. The house is clean and comfortable. The views were amazing all around the house of the sea and castle at the back. The only issue we had is that the garden doesn’t have a gate, it’s not enclosed, so the dogs briefly ran off! we had to try and block the path off with the bins which didn’t work very well. I also wouldn’t suggest putting your washing outside. The washing smelt terribly of smoky kippers!

Wet but wonderful holiday!

This was our first visit to Craster and we were totally enamoured with the village itself, the coastal walks, the wild seascapes and nearby Dunstanburgh Castle. Although it’s a fairly long drive from our home in Shropshire, we’re certainly planning to return at some point very soon. It’s one of the best places we’ve ever visited! Craster Reach is a lovely house and a true home-from-home. Extremely stylish, beautifully furnished, very well equipped and perfectly located. There were locally-produced provisions waiting in the kitchen when we arrived - butter, milk, bread, eggs, jam etc - and a stack of firewood in the log store too. Very generous of the owners! The weather wasn’t quite what we were hoping for in late July - mostly wet and windy - but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment for one minute. We played golf, swam in the sea, hiked the coastal path, went to the cinema in Cramlington and spent lots of time in the Jolly Fisherman! We’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world, but this was definitely one of our best ever holidays! Highly recommended!!

Probably the best rental house in Craster

This cottage benefits from its central Craster location. Bedroom views of the Castle and harbour, walking distance of excellent dog friendly food serving pub with sea views. The smokery nearby also sells essentials like bread, milk etc, parking for 2 large vehicles. Central in a stretch of outstanding coastline preserved by the National Trust. The open plan living space downstairs with wood burning stove (wood etc included), entertainment system which is easy to navigate, well stocked kitchen with dishwasher etc. makes it easy to entertain family and friends at the cottage. The beds are soooo comfy, with quality linens and large fluffy towels make it just that more Luxe cottage experience. The showers have great water pressure, with endless hot water - just the thing when you’ve been caught out by the weather! The thoughtful welcome package for both humans and dog - take the pressure off if you’ve forgotten an essential, and give you the opportunity to taste local produce. The cleanliness of the place is to be commended. Rarely have I visited a place as clean! A secure backyard gives pet owners peace of mind, and opportunity to share the outside space with their dog. Also a hose to wash your dog and boots off! All very well thought out.

A Fantastic Northumberland Break

A fabulously well designed and equipped house in the centre of Craster. Stylishly furnished with comfortable beds. Plenty of space for up to 6 people with 3 large bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms with excellent showers and a downstairs cloakroom/utility room. Fantastic position in village with breathtaking views of castle and countryside. A couple of minutes walk to local pub The Jolly Fisherman where we would recommend booking as gets very busy at weekends. Thoroughly enjoyed our walk to the castle and beach beyond, Good parking at front property and to rear if you have a second car. Excellent dog walks nearby. We were sorry to leave and will stay longer hopefully next time,
