Ideal location

Posted 03-Oct-2017
Nice hotel, in ideal location for Alnwick garden. Staff were nice and friendly. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean but the shower in the bath was only the hose. There was no where to fix while showering, so you had to hold it while showering.

Location is the best for wandering around Alnwick

Posted 24-Sep-2017
Very pleasant staff. As an older hotel without a lift rooms are quite a walk from reception. Good if you're counting steps.! Light well ventilated room with good bathroom. Didn't opt for breakfast at 14.95 as there are plenty of eateries within walking distance.

Pros: Ideal location in the town centre with ample parking. Historical hotel with the dining room from and old classic ship and a marvellous staircase.
Cons: Easy availibility of luggage transfer upstairs owing to lack of lifts.
Location: Well suited to visit the nearby Alnwick castle and garden.
A pleasant hotel with helpful staff. Situated in the middle of town and within easy access to major roads.

Great location in the heart of Alnwick

Posted 20-Aug-2017
Pros: Location, historical interest, restaurant, cleanliness, friendliness of staff
Location: Great location on main street of Alnwick, walking distance to Alnwick Castle, Barter Books.
This hotel is lovely—historical and comfortable. We had a great room with two windows overlooking the main street (it was quiet at night though). The food in the restaurant was very good. The staff were quite accommodating and friendly. The staircase and the decorations in the dining room were taken from the RMS Olympia, a sister ship to the Titanic, so that was quite interesting. There's no lift because of the historical designation of the hotel, which didn't bother us, but good to know if your travel needs require one.

Central hotel near Alnwick Castle

Posted 11-Aug-2017
Pros: Convenience
Cons: Needs updating
Location: Good central for town and Castle. Amazing bookshop in old station.
Clean but rather old fashioned and in the centre of this small town, a short walk to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Staff good. Rooms fine. Main dining area / breakfast good. Attached restaurant, Hardys, quite expensive with a large pillar in the middle and so the seemingly inexperienced staff were not always visible and service was quite slow.

White Swan Alnwick - comfortable stay.

Posted 10-Jul-2017 on Hotels
The White Swan is in a great location in the middle of Alnwick. When we arrived the car park was full, but plentiful free parking very close by. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Only problem in the room was a leaky shower and taps. We found the breakfast adequate, a small size cooked breakfast but enough pastries and cereal available to fill the gaps.

Keep Fit

Posted 17-May-2017 on Hotels
We were on the top floor 40 + stairs to the room, no lift. very basic decor in the room. The "duvet" for the bed was about and inch thick, no additional blanket in the room, and it was cold when we went to bed, I went up and down the 40+ stairs to get a blanket, no doubt I could have phoned reception but preferred getting a blanket that night. A good view of Alnwick castle grounds from the window The shower over the bath ran hot cold, I would normally inform reception, when in a decent hotel they ask how was your stay, they just said thank you for the return of the key. Top rates are charged by this hotel for very basic rooms and service, we will definitely not be staying again.

A step back in time...

Posted 04-May-2017 on Hotels
Stayed in Alnwick for friends' wedding, and decided to stop over for a couple of nights. The town is historic, and it does feel like stepping into the past. The hotel itself follows this feel perfectly - you do get a real sense of the history of the building, typified by the Olympia dining room. Having forgotten one or two minor but essential items en route (scissors, pen etc), we unfortunately had to pester the staff on a couple of occasions, but each time our requests were dealt with promptly and courteously. Will definitely be more than happy to stay again.

Love this hotel, really nice area, right in the heart of Alnwick. Hotel is really comfortable, room was smaller this time round but then its an old building so you cant really complain!
