Vale do Lobo Resort

"Overall, would recommend. A few things that could have made things even better - the resort is so huge, it can be confusing to figure out where everything is (there is a paper map provided during check in, but think an interactive/app would be much easier to navigate). It’s not always clear what is/isn’t included when staying at the resort (lots of things are discounted, but lots aren’t). The pool is a beach club. Not always suitable for children (we had our 2.5 year old with us and it could be a little rowdy in the afternoons/evenings. V quiet in the mornings. Also worth nothing that a DJ starts in the afternoon and the loud speakers are beside the kids pool making it unsuitable for young families in the afternoon/evening). The beach loungers are cash only - not a problem other than we didn’t know and had to trek back to our villa to get some as only had our phones for payment. Pristine accommodation with exceptional amenities. If returning, would get a villa with a pool next time. Parking meters at beach were broken in lots of spots so could be hard to make payment to avoid any fines. Staff in reception a little cold at times, but overall in the restaurants, beach club etc friendly and helpful. Prices reasonable for an upscale location with lots of choice for meals (of varying quality and choice). We didn’t use the shuttle as we had a rental car, and we were glad we had it as with a small child waiting up to 30 mins (as quoted at check in) would not have worked for us."

"What stands out at this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. From our first visit to the pool area, the lady who manages the breakfast area and learns every customers name within about 5 minutes, the friendly reception team, and the wonderful barman who made us a Portuguese G&T; they all go hugely above and beyond. There are clearly customers who come back here year in and year out. If I had one observation it would be that the aircon in the room needs improving and maybe a small general updating. Please don’t let that put you off though. This is a lovely hotel in a superb location run by an outstanding team. We’ve had a really special 2 night stay."

"Loved my stay at the Magnolia. Solo traveller. Great pool area. Really friendly staff. Room a little tired but ideal for what I needed. I didn’t utilise the free bikes but if I were here for longer I would have! Close to restaurants, supermarkets and the beach. Would definitely come back!"
