The trail down to the lake and another to the top of the bluff were an added bonus not seen at other houses. The house was very roomy, clean, met all our
We all thoroughly enjoyed it!! We’d definitely want to stay here again. needs
bonus not found at other locations.
This was everything we hoped it would be and very accurate per the listing. The property itself was large with plenty of lawn space for the kids to run around. Great back deck for eating and grilling. Picturesque lake lookout deck and path down to the beach. A wonderful summer getaway.
Beautiful property with very unique walkways to lake and lookout area above bluff...breathtaking views! House accommodated our group well. Owner was EXTREMELY helpful and responsive to any and all questions, I would definitely say the kindest I've ever encountered. Renters of all ages will enjoy their time at this wonderful home.
Everything went very well. Plenty of room indoors and out. Property description was spot on. Easy access from road. Quick travel to nearby towns. Great views of Lake Michigan from a couple of points on property. Water was too cold and rough during our stay to venture in. All in all a great experience.
We came looking for a place that would work for a multi-generational family vacation. With bedrooms on the main level and in the basement, this place met the criteria. The upstairs is great. The lake views are amazing. The trails that led to the lake overlook and beach were fun. One reality about this place that I believe needs to be shared is that the basement has low ceilings. The other thing to note while next to Door County, it is pretty good trip up to Fish Creek or Washington Island. Despite those couple of things, I would stay here again should travels bring me back in that direction.
Family getaway for the 4th. We enjoyed the access to the creek and Lake Michigan. Lake flies were horrible when we were there, so we were unable to enjoy the deck and stargaze. The house had plenty of space to spread out. Linens and towels were lacking, as we had a larger group.. so if you have 15+, pack extra pillows, blankets and towels. We also had to buy extra paper towels as there was only one roll for the few days we were there. Some of the doors and windows need some maintenance as hard to open. Overall, the stay was good, we made it work and mainly enjoyed the close proximity to Door County and outdoor space during the day.
Perfect for a family or group of friends! The house was clean and much bigger than we imagined from the pictures. Amazing yard and BBQ, with walkways to a view spot as well as down to the water. Algoma is close by and charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here and would come again.
The location, beautiful view, nice deck, and spacious house were all wonderful. Unfortunately, we didn't have the best weather to enjoy the outdoor experience on the deck or beach. The large table allowed for card games, and the water views were enjoyed from the living room. Algoma is a fun destination and we enjoyed our stay.
Its a great property to stay with you friends and family. The cherry on the top is the back side beach. Algoma town is also very beautiful.
I would come here again with my friends and family. And definitely recommend this is anyone who wants to detox their lifestyle for a week:-).
Convenient Location & Comfortable Lake Michigan Home
Our family had 4 days to spend with extended family for some much needed time fishing, touring Door County, and just hanging out on the shore of Lake Michigan. This home had plenty of room, a nice deck to sit on, open spaces in the living room and family room, as well as a path that leads down to the shore of Lake Michigan. The only information I think someone would want to know is that the parking spaces are small if you drive anything bigger than a car/small SUV. The 4 families we had together all drive trucks and we had to back in from the road in sequenced order so that we could fit in the designated spaces. Don't plan on bringing your boat or a trailer and think you'll fit! We also think you should know that the paths to the lake and the designated fire pit are overgrown with weeds/plants. We did enjoy campfires together, but on the shore of Lake Michigan, which was beautiful and relaxing.
We would definitely stay here again, and hope to again next summer. The contact person was prompt about returning text messages and very kind of speak with. No major issues at all, everything at the house worked, the A/C was very nice in the hot weather this past week! Great VRBO for the price - would recommend!
MK’s well maintained house has a magical setting - but read on for an important warning. A row of majestic evergreens lines the front yard. In the back yard, you’ll find two well maintained wood planked pathways. One crosses a creek and leads to a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, complete with wooden bench style seating. Magical and romantic. The other follows the creak down to a stretch of beach that’s a mix of sand and pebbles. We loved sitting on the beach at night as the sun set behind us, looking out at the vastness of the lake as darkness set in. Inside the house, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, appliances and spices, and the cabinets and drawers are thoughtfully labeled to help you find everything quickly. The warning is that, as noted by a previous guest, swarms of mosquitoes surrounded both the front and rear entrances throughout our stay, both day and night, despite us plugging in a device the owner said would repel them (it didn’t) and spraying Raid we bought ourselves. There were so many bugs it was impossible to go in and out of the house without letting dozens inside, and we stopped using the deck after the first night. The owner told us it’s a seasonal issue, and he also promised us that he is now taking steps to address the problem, so we suggest inquiring before you book. The owner definitely felt bad, and he’s clearly worked hard to create a comfortable and beautiful vacation experience tor guests, but there was nothing he could do in the time of our stay so we left early and found a room in Ephraim for the final night of our trip. If the problem is addressed, or if you’re booking during a different season, this could be a perfect property for you.

Fell Way Short of Expectations
My group was expecting more for the price we paid.
The property is nicely situated along Lake Michigan and near Door County, however, there were many downfalls. Overgrown weeds all around the property, mayflies everywhere, especially at night, and the occasional stench of farm animals.
The inside of the property is very dated and could use a complete remodel. The couches by the television offered zero comfort.
The master bed was so noisy, it would wake up my wife and two year old every time I adjusted my position. The WiFi and main television were brutal. They barely worked.
Upon arrival, we learned one of the four bedrooms was out of order, as the bed frame was broken. My group didn’t need the fourth bedroom but it was inappropriate to not let us know until arrival.
Day two, basement toilet started leaking and we had to shut the water off to it. Management acknowledged the problem, and that was it, no follow up or repair offered. This alone should warrant a refund.
The beach was not fun. We anticipated swimming daily and having fun with the three toddlers down there. Instead we found a beach completely covered in algae. I went in the water up to my chest and was walking on nothing but algae. I couldn’t feel anything except slimy algae under my feet and between my toes. I don’t know if this is always the case on this stretch of beach or if it was just bad timing, but nonetheless, it was gross. If this is normal, it should be mentioned in the listing.
A nice property with lots of room inside the house and outdoors: All your basic needs are satisfied - well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, excellent communication with the owners The shore had rough waters and it was very windy but that’s the nature of a property on Lake Michigan and maybe the summer time is different. Overall we had a nice stay.
I felt we might not be going far enough up to really get a Door Cty feel but Algoma was a pleasant surprise with more shops than I expected. Property was as described. It has great spaces to spread out, inside and outside. There could be more pictures in the listing because there are more cool spaces than pictured. You will not be disappointed. The stream area is like a fairytale land. A 10 year old nature kid would be happy exploring there for days! We found Yooperlites on the shoreline.
The only thing was that, as warned, the second night the wind changed and brought the farm smell in. We are city people not used to that smell. It didn’t bother my teens but I would have been unhappy if I was planning a big get together having lots of outside time.
We knew enough not to visit a Great Lake during spring so we didn’t have problems with bugs at all. All the amenities made it very welcoming. We appreciated the hand sanitizer, tissue boxes, and the filtered water and ice from the fridge.
This house was the perfect spot for our annual friends getaway. Just a short walk down to the beach and had everything we needed. Drive to the touristy spots in Door County were scenic and easy. Highly recommend!
Every summer my siblings and significant others take a trip together. It’s one of the ways we keep our relationships strong. This summer we decided to stay at Sunrise Creek right on the lake. Even though we all grew up in WI, none of us had ever stayed on Lake Michigan.
The house was great, plenty of beds, a fully stocked kitchen (which is rare!), and great AC! The property was gorgeous with easy access to the lake, a stunning overlook, and a charming creek.
MK was easy to communicate with and very responsive. MK even bought us a corn hole game for the yard.
The location of the property is ideal. We did a fishing excursion (Kinn’s) which was only a 10 minute drive. We golfed in Alaska (not that Alaska) which was only a 7 minute drive. We visited the Von Stiehl winery which I highly recommend.
I highly recommend this property for an excellent experience.
This is a beautiful property. I had a great time there. I stayed a week their was some small issues. I contacted the owner who put me in contact with the manager who replied to me promptly. I missed the gap day in which they took care of it. The only thing I would say is that the property should be gone through and everything should be checked before a new guess arrives. Even though the issues were small but they could reflect badly on the renter and or cause damage. All in all a great property and I would return my family loved the property as well and is looking for a return date. Thank you for having us.
