Unfortunately my wife became very ill and we could not go to France. I was so distracted I forgot to cancel the hotel. The owner was so kind and refused payment even though I was a no show and he was entitled to full charge. Quite remarkable generosity. I will go and stay ASAP.

Lovely, clean room with everything you need. Great dinner and perfect breakfast.

In the middle of nowhere, quiet and very pleasant. Rustic and very welcoming. Looked after well , clean and with all the things you need with shops as far as a throw of a stick. Great experience!! Totally recommend!

Exceptionally helpful staff. Free private and secure garage = peace of mind. Walking distance of railway station so will use again when travelling by train.

Our host at Au Fer à Cheval was Romain, a friendly and helpful man. He owns about 20 English thoroughbred race horses, as well as breeds them. His farm is in a beautiful location with lovely views. It was unfortunately cold and wet for the two nights that we were there, so we couldn't use the pool, and the roads were too slippery for him to take us out in his horse-drawn carriage, but we did see two of his retired racing mares with their foals. Our room was comfortable and clean, good shower,...

The hitel needs a bit of modernisation if compared with other Ibis, but the room was clean and stuff was friendly. Good breakfast as well.

What an absolute gem of a place. Beautiful location, calm peaceful with lovely gardens. A short drive from Alcenon which has a selection of excellent restaurants A first class continental breakfast provided by the fabulous hostess. A selection of beers and wines available for purchase. Great value for money highly recommend we will definitely be back.

Great value room which was clean, comfortable and funtional. Ample self service breakfast. Staff were helpful and spoke English which was a plus as my French is schoolboy. Parking outside the room and a restaurant next door.

Nice hotel in a quiet town but the food was excellent at a reasonable price.

Madame very welcoming and friendly. Lovely place in beautiful surroundings. Beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Good breakfast and coffee.

A lovely place to stay. We were on a trip to Bergerac and this was a one night stop so we didn't reallyhave a chance to experience the pool/spa, but the outside sitting areas were nice and being able to get wine and beer was really nice after a long drive. The hosts are every attentive, and although we can't speak french very well and their english was limited Google translate saved the day, especially at meal time when we sat with Celine and her family

Great price and a lovely and helpful proprietor. To the people giving this hotel a bad review: if you want luxury, pay for it. There are no stairs and it's a three story building - this is publicised, so why complain? It's only a 10 minute walk to the town centre. The place is quirky and dated but that is it's charm. Highly recommend. Will be returning.

Usual warm welcome and fabulous hospitality from Jean-Francois. Clean and very comfortable room. Delicious taster evening menu.

Great location - walking distance to town. The hotel owner gave us a choice of rooms - don't usually get that! Really friendly and helpful. Watched the hotel owner being great with a disabled guest too.

The owners could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our room (thankfully air-conditioned given the 40 degree heat!) was amazing, with wonderfully comfortable bed and great shower. Sumptuous breakfast. Bellême is a fascinating little town. We shall look forward to returning!
