Frequently asked questions

Which area of Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan is best to stay in for beaches?
For beaches, the area around JR Akashi Station and the central waterfront is an excellent choice, offering both convenience and coastal charm. From here, you are just a short 10-minute stroll from the beach, and you'll also have easy access to the vibrant Uontana Shopping Street and the bustling waterfront.

For those seeking a true beach atmosphere, Okura Coast, also known as Okura Kaigan, is an ideal destination. This urban beach boasts stunning views of the Akashi Strait and the majestic Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, complemented by delightful beachside amenities like a promenade and a BBQ area.

If a quieter seaside experience is more to your liking, Eigashima presents a serene alternative.
How much does a beach hotel in Akashi cost?
Prices for beach hotels in Akashi vary, but you can find a great deal from £26 on Expedia. You're likely to find lower rates if you're travelling during the off-peak season or mid-week. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for our cheapest rates.
What is the best time of year to stay in a beach hotel in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan?
The most popular time to stay in a beach hotel in Akashi is from late spring to early summer, particularly May to July. This period offers wonderfully warm weather, with temperatures ideal for enjoying the coast without the intense heat of mid-summer.

May provides an excellent balance of pleasant weather and beach-friendly conditions, making it a comfortable month for exploring. By July, the swimming season is typically in full swing along Japan's main islands, so you'll find the most natural beach atmosphere for swimming and sunbathing. Families might particularly enjoy July, as the warmer water is great for children to play in.

For those seeking a quieter experience and good value, October is a great alternative. While it's less reliably "beach season" for swimming, you'll still find milder weather, fewer crowds, and potentially better deals on accommodation.

You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along the shore, taking in the stunning views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the picturesque sunset.

For families, Okura Beach Park is an excellent choice, featuring dedicated tidal pools and play areas designed to keep children entertained. The park also provides BBQ facilities, which may require advance booking, making it ideal for a fun family day out.

Active travellers will appreciate the variety of beach sports on offer, including soccer, volleyball, beach tennis, and even beach rugby.
