Strong dead rat smell at the hotel entrance. Bed bug!!!!! My friend and I have neighbor rooms in 4th floor. Both of us got bitten by bed bug!!!!!!! Terrible.

This property and staff were exceptional. A trusted brand. We were there during the hottest recorded days in the DC area. Our room was very nice and stayed cool the whole trip. The housekeeper was very professional and our room was always fresh when we returned. We didn’t try the bar/pub, but it was full, so I imagine it was good. The Metro was close enough to walk easily along with other retail and restaurants. We definitely would love to stay here again.

The charm is wonderful, and I loved the room. Definitely had an old "DC" feel. I only gave it 3 stars because the amenities were lacking. My television frequently went in and out of connection, only two water bottles in the rooms (you had to ask the front desk and I felt lije it was an inconvenience each time I asked which was twice in 5 days) no vending machine to get cold drinks, limited signage to where anything is, my refrigerator didn't shut properly and a couple of things went bad the first night, the AC rattled the entire time, etc. Nothing major but it added up. It would be different if there were convenient stores or other needed essentials right next door, but I just felt like this was too expensive of a stay, 4th of July weekend or not, to not offer more convenience and creature comforts inside the hotel...especially considering the sweltering heat visitors to DC just endured. I did love the history of the building and the ambience but beyond that, I wouldn't stay again without more effort around the little things that you really expect at a place like this.

Nice little find, the staff were unfailingly excellent. Our room was large and we also had a massage chair that was fantastic to have a drink and watch the World Cup from. I felt like Joey and Chandler in Friends. There was no breakfast but I think you could pay $25 for one. We went Aldi which was a couple of blocks away to stock up on brekkie There was a nice gym to get a sweat on and as it was set in a uni campus outside of term time it was quiet. Transport wise we could walk 10 mins to the Metro stop at NOMA galludet but we also walked back one evening and it wasn't too bad, some interesting characters but nothing too threatening. It's a $15 taxi ride from Union Station Also pro tip, to make the walk to Union Square bars and the metro station request a key card to get you through the gate....it saves ten minutes of your life All in all a pleasant experience

The showers were either really hot or cold no in between
