This traditional Perigord Vert accommodation comprises modern living, a log fired hot-tub and a secluded and enclosed garden - just in case you wish for your 4 legged friend to join you. A range of beautiful woodland walks are accessible from your front door. This luxurious holiday gite is in a stunning area of the Dordogne countryside with many beautiful local walks on our doorstep. Les Bardeaux Gite Bleu is at the end of a quiet little hamlet, within the Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, but still close enough to enjoy local villages, towns and attractions, with our closest village just 3 and a half kms away, which offers a patisserie/boulangerie, post office, info site, pub, and creperie. Our nearest supermarket is just 15 minutes drive away. We are just 50 mins drive from Limoges airport. Three restaurants are within 10 minutes drive from us. Set in gorgeous grounds, ideal for couples and dogs, Les Bardeaux offers peace and tranquility and a chance to recharge your batteries. The ethos is all about enjoying nature: with our own woodlands, meadow, and wood-fired hot-tub for you to enjoy. Les Bardeaux Gite Bleu is a very peaceful and tranquil place to stay. The gite itself has a modern kitchen, smart TV, log burner, bedroom balcony and large king sized bed. The modern wood-fired hot-tub is situated within the enclosed garden. Wood is provided for guests to light the stove and heat the water. There are a variety of bikes for guests to use for free, although you will need to bring your own cycle helmets. We have two horses, Hugo and Postit, who are very partial to the odd carrot - but please ask permission before you feed them. We have our own very friendly and loveable lurchers, Lexy and Ted. They love people and other dogs. We understand how difficult it can be to find truly dog-friendly accommodation and whole-heartedly welcome your dog to Les Bardeaux Gite Bleu. We are spoilt for choice for walks right on our doorstep and have 7 and a half acres of woodland and meadows for you to exercise your dog in. If you need a dog-sitter or dog-walker then we are always very willing to help, for a small additional charge. We can also provide a dog crate and/or doggy blankets. We love nature and are trying to be as eco-friendly as we can. We recycle as much as possible and encourage guests to do the same. We do not need to use chemicals in the hot-tub. This means it is so much kinder on your skin and feels so much nicer to bathe in. The area around Les Bardeaux is breath-taking. There are countless walks right on our doorstep, through woods and hamlets, around lakes and meadows. It is paradise for ramblers, nature lovers, dog-walkers and cyclists. ​ The nearest village, Abjat-sur-Bandiat, is just 3 and a half kms away. It is possible to walk there along the walking tracks and takes about 45 minutes. If you're not feeling that energetic, it is just a few minutes in the car, or a short cycle ride away. There you will find a creperie, pub and boulangerie. ​ Saint Saud lake is a very short cycle ride away, or about 6 minutes by car. It is an absolutely stunning place to swim, walk, or enjoy a meal at the pizzeria situated right next to the lake. La Ferme du Lac is a lovely 17th century restored farmhouse bar/restaurant that nestles at the bottom of a wooded valley with its own lake. It’s a lovely place for relaxing over a drink in the sunshine. It is possible to walk there along the footpaths, taking about 45 mins. It is just a few minutes’ drive away, or you can cycle there. ​ Les Bardeaux is in the Perigord Vert (Green Perigord) region of the Dordogne where there are countless outdoor activities, towns/villages, historical buildings/chateaux and caves, and swimming lakes to visit. They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms. There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds. Those ones are some sort of wood pigeons going from Eastern Europe / Russia to North Africa. I did my own shooting that morning... with my camera! Sophie and Craig are great hosts, you never feel watched but they're always available if needed. The garden is a good size, sunny all day and fully fenced - and with a selection of walks (all with swimming opportunities) from the door our dog was very happy.We'd not been to the area before and didn't know what to expect, but found that, whilst not spectacular, it's beautiful and relaxed with many things to see and do. The tourist attractions like Chateau Chalus-Chabrol, Villars cave or the medieval village of St Jean de Cole are pretty understated but well worth visiting.We'd love to return to the area at some time and would definitely use the gite bleu again.We hadn't been to the area before. ##### John S. Lovely gite, owners are discrete but on hand if you need them. The welcome wine, and biscuits etc is a nice touch when you have travelled a long way. Exceeding our expectations, it had all we needed and more, so well equipped. Big comfortable bed, good shower, and decent telly…all the boxes ticked on our list. And of course dog friendly… Sophie and Craig, our hosts (two lovely dogs of their own) were superb, unobtrusive, but informative with excellent local knowledge. The wood fired hot tub was a pleasurable bonus, which we used a lot during our ten day stay, perfect for easing our weary legs after the long walks in the area. If you are into walks, there are so many around to choose from, we didn't get to do them all (download the Circwi app for comprehensive walk and bike routes). Set in a beautiful, quiet location, lovely surroundings, great patio… there is plenty to do should you want to have a lazy day at base… but the weather was kind to us for the time of year so we took advantage of it. Just returned from 23 nights in such a beautiful Gite in a beautiful part of the Dordogne, perfect location for an escape from hustle and bustle but with plenty to do if you choose to. Fabulous hosts available whenever we needed and we were greeted with a lovely hamper treat. The hot tub was a lovely addition and used most nights to star gaze. Very dog friendly our dog definitely has holiday blues after leaving her boyfriend Ted! Our time flew by we think we need 6 weeks next time, we definitely fell into the relaxed French way of life. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Sophie was really responsive as host and warm in hospitality. The gîte was clean and homely, located in a perfectly quiet spot, surrounded by interesting activities (so much to do, even on the rainiest of days).
