This hotel room was the best appointed one I have stayed in. Really careful consideration had gone into what you may need to make your stay more comfortable & it was. Excellent mirrors, hot water bottle, toiletries, storage and more. Very friendly service, great food, wonderful vegetarian option. Ample car parking. Lovely village to walk around & a pretty church to visit.

Travelling alone can be hit-or-miss. I was made very welcome by each member of staff and helped with my luggage. My room was fine: everything you’d expect, plus a nice touch: a hot water bottle, which I was glad of. Very nice en-suite bathroom with a generous range of shower and hair products. High points were the dinner: above average pub grub, the vegetarian breakfast and the happy staff team. Low point was a strange smell upstairs, like burnt carpet. I’d stay again.

Very welcoming and friendly, good pub food and an excellent breakfast. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, while despite it being a pub, noise was minimal. We would recommend this unconditionally. Thank you!

A beautiful well maintained property in an idyllic area. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and well lit. Bathroom was well provided and clean. Even had an hot water bottle provided. Food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast. Superb accommodation and will be back as soon as possible.

Short one night stay at the Black Lion
Good sized, clean and comfy room. Nice to see sill and sparkling complimentary bottled water, plus a little jar of marsh mallows to go with the hot chocolate. Very accommodating, we needed breakfast half an hour before they normally serve it, it was no trouble for them to get up early and make breakfast for us.

We selected the black lion hotel because of the high rankings it received from previous guests. It was certainly a great choice. Would love to come again and stay longer.

Perfect stop over
Booked as a stay over travelling to zip world. Hotel room was clean with all you need for a stop over. Pub was good with decent menu. Food we had was great quality and good value. Lady who we spoke to was very helpful & friendly. Breakfast included and also very good. Only 5 rooms so service very friendly.
