Perfect for my needs
I know this place has some negative reviews, but I would like to say that I thought it was perfect for a long weekend. There are some minor issues (having dvds available to watch instead of a tv/DVD player with no material available would be great!), but really, for the price point it was lovely. I felt safe and comfortable at all times. Keep in mind that it is an OLD property. It has quirks. The carpet isn't perfect, the kitchen area is small and the temperature in the shower likes to keep you on your toes. But the bed was clean and comfortable, the items in the kitchen covered all basic needs and the couch was comfortable to curl up on. Everything was in very easy walking distance and I was totally comfortable doing so.

The Shamble Apt.
We walked in took a look around and left! I wish the ad had smell-o-vision! The “Glade” coverup doesn’t quite do the trick. The windows don’t open, not that you want them to, because the neighborhood is so sketchy. We didn’t feel safe. A Homeless man with his butt crack exposed was just hanging around outside. The empty lot across the street looked like a playground for criminal activity. The floors squeaked from the grime under your feet that unfortunately didn’t come clean. The carpets and couch were stained and we didn’t want to sit or walk on any surface. Every closet was cluttered and in disarray. The bedding had stains and possibly bedbugs. We were itchy just standing! The back door led to a dirty and stained ridden hallway that had broken appliances and nut shells strewed everywhere not to mention the stench that permeated the space. There were cracks in the windows, and the blinds had broken slats. The front door had to be bolted otherwise it would not close properly. The building is old and run down and needs a major face lift. Street parking only, which under normal circumstances would be fine, but given the location, the fear of it being stolen or vandalized was high. Our contact Vicki, was less than helpful and honestly seemed uninterested by my phone call, being distracted by a blaring television that was obviously more important than being professional. She had informed me that her “girl” had done a “deep” clean given the fact that someone recently stayed for 10 days. Clearly $37.00 isn’t enough to inspire your cleaning crew. Bottom line, renter beware! Just because it’s a good deal, you get what you pay for. Thoroughly disappointed!

BEWARE! Listing not as described!
The location of this property is in a very rough part of town, and the door wouldn’t stay closed without the deadbolt locked. The window locks were rusty, there was a burn mark on one of the living room outlet covers indicating a recent electrical burn, and there were stains all over the twin futon in the living room. There was no way this place sleeps 5, unless 2 folks wanted to sleep on the floor. The odor in the house was musty and also smelled strongly of urine. We ended up staying at the Best Western instead, and I still haven’t heard back from the property manager regarding our concerns.

From the Owner: There are air mattresses and the futon is clean and the cover has been laundered. There are extra sheets in the hall closet to use with the futon. The unit is professionally cleaned and I get photos after each cleaning. The neighborhood is in Aberdeen, Washington. It has good parts and not perfect parts. The door does lock perfectly using the deadbolt. In regards to the smell, I will investigate and talk to my cleaning personnel. I am sorry it was not what she was expecting.

The apartment was clean but it is old. There was no AC so it got pretty hot. There was some of what I would consider essentials missing, such as, kitchen sponge to wash dishes, kitchen towels, garbage bags, extra blankets, can opener and there weren't enough towels for the 5 of us. For the price it was acceptable.

Small but nice
The apartment is small, but it's in good condition. We had a couple of small problems while we were there. The listing says it sleeps 5 with 2 air mattresses. Both air mattresses had holes and couldn't be inflated. We notified the contact on our first day, who said they would replace them. The probably will/did, but they didn't during the 5 days we were there, so we ended up with some sleeping on couch cushions on the floor, instead. One of the TVs doesn't work at all (we were out and about a lot, so not a big deal to us, but if it matters to you...). They also said they would replace that TV. The first day we were there, the weather was 95 F, and there was no AC, not even a fan in the apartment. But the rest of the days were pleasant, so we didn't need it after that that. For some reason, the flies were out of control! We ended up getting a sticky trap to catch them.

Was a great little spot to stay and we were very comfortable being there. Only drawback was the water pressure in the kitchen was very low and also in the shower. The bathroom (tub/shower) knobs were extremely hard to use and had to turn to almost the point of breaking to get the water to turn off.

Very bad neighborhood, bad smells, fruit flies. All windows unlocked when arriving. The bed was not the right size. Listing said queen we got a full.

The pictures don't tell the whole story
This place wasn't super expensive, so I don't want to whine, but this unit is not as nice as the pictures imply. Carpet in the living room is old and littered with stains, and the whole place stinks like old smoke. A smoker definitely used to live here. The water pressure in the kitchen sink is a literal trickle, so it takes a long time to wash and rinse dishes (no dish washer). The bath tub faucet constantly runs, and a lot. Aside from wasting water, there was a fresh layer of red mildew growing in the tub that we had to clean before we could shower. Really pretty gross. The shower water temp jumped around from hot to cold, then hot, then cold. It's all over the place, so you have to jump in and out of the water. The house is close to downtown, which we liked, but the neighborhood is a strange spot. There are one or two condemned and shuttered houses within a few hundred feet, with some real shady characters lurking about. It looked like drugs were being used. The building this unit is in is also... interesting. We heard several loud shouting matches at night and in the morning. The police actually came and broke one up. This happened right outside the back door of the unit which leads into the building. No joke, I thought we might hear gunshots at some point. I also didn't feel safe leaving anything in my car. This isn't the worst place I've stayed in, but it's far from the best. The location is great, but the neighborhood isn't. If hosts should fixed the kitchen and bathtub water situations, replaced the living room carpet, and cleaned better before guests arrive, it'd be a little more palatable. Even so I probably would not stay here again, because the neighborhood doesn't seem safe.

Less than expected
The property itself was very cute and comfy. But it wasn’t as large as the pictures had portrayed and there were a lot of little things that took away from the experience. There was a back door that opened onto a hallway and it was unlocked when we arrived, the lock was not strong and you could constantly here people when they walked by, the carpets were dirty, there was water dripping constantly in the bathtub that was soo loud it was disruptive. The neighborhood was very questionable and noisy. The kitchen was cute and the fireplace was very comfy. All and all my boyfriend and I had a great time but there were A lot of things that were frustrating or feeling not safe.

Too many things marginal at best
I stayed in the property 4 times from September to December 2019. I went back because I paid for all four at the same time. They allow dogs and I was told upfront I wouldn't get my money back if I cancelled. The latter was Evolve , not the owners. * Heat was 2 space heaters and it was never warm. There was a 3rd available but if it or the microwave were turned on along with the other two, the one circuit breaker for the entire unit would blow. This will be fixed sometime... so I was told at each stay. *Poor water pressure plus no thermal regulator on the shower made for hot/cold showers in a very cold bathroom. Not the best when already cold. * Uncomfortable living room sofa and loveseat, no comfortable chair to read or watch TV. I think the furniture was made for giants. *Supposedly ok for 3 adults-there is a single cot that folds into a chair (uncomfortable) in the living room - but there is only a tiny round table for dining or working and it only has two chairs. If three people were to dine, I don't know where the 3rd would sit. Not at the table, that's for sure. * No office workspace except for aforementioned tiny table and straight backed chair. *The neighborhood seems a little sketchy though I never really felt unsafe. (Dogs help with that.) Very close to downtown and the homeless encampment strategically placed next to the police station. Noticable police presence in the area which was reassuring. *One block away from Aberdeen High School with kids hanging around particularly at lunch time . I wasn't bothered, though it might some people. *Neighbors directly upstairs at least for an hour or two a day seemed to be either moving furniture, dropping bowling balls or running with very heavy feet. Never at night and otherwise quiet. *Front door opens right onto the sidewalk and the door sticks badly. Only a deadbolt, no regular second catch and lock. Needs a security storm/screen door for safety. *I hope there are plans for the windows for summer. There are no screens and even with screens I'd be a little concerned about having them open at night in that neighborhood. *CM detector but no smoke detector. I mentioned this. It's an old wooden building. * Drapes would be nice. They would stop the cold wind wafting from the window, plus, with only blinds, the street light outside the bedroom prevents the room from getting fully dark at night. The owner and manager are very nice hardworking people. I dont like having to leave a bad review.

Cozy location
Property was comfortable, but did have some fleas. The best part of our stay was the property manager who bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. She was wonderful!

Great place, very large and spacious, loved the fireplace and very comfy bed, kitchen well stocked and lots of charm in the apartment, great walking area to restaurants and historic homes just up the hill plus Kurt Cobain house, bridge just a mile away, my grandson and I had a great time and will come back!

Short stay in Aberdeen, WA
Great location and easy on the pocket book. Only gave 3 stars on accuracy because I was moved to a different rental unit so I am unable to rate the one I originally rented. The unit I stayed in appeared to be recently renovated. It was clean, spacious and all the furnishings were new. However, the building its-self is very old. I think the owners are in the process of restoring the property. I think it will be amazing once they are done.

Stay in Aberdeen
The exterior is a work in progress, but a very beautiful 100 year old property in the process of getting the TLC it deserves, I commend the owner who is working to renew the individual units to modern standards while keeping the old charm. My recommendation to the owners: Provide a hair dryer and a wine opener. Otherwise, our stay was perfect!
