In Kuta, a quiet fishing community turned tourist hotspot, you’ll find plenty of activities and a wealth of bars and restaurants, all a stone’s throw from the famed Kuta Beach. In fact, most of Kuta’s attractions are easily reached on foot. If you want to explore outside of town, it’s easy to get a taxis here, just make sure the metre is set or agree a price beforehand.
Family Fun in Kuta
Families will find themselves well entertained in Kuta. Practically every three-star hotel here has a pool, and you’re never more than a 15-minute walk away from the wide shores of Kuta Beach. In the centre of town, you’ll find Waterbom Bali, a water park with 17 slides and rides, as well as the interactive Dream Museum Zone Bali, which contains large 3D murals that children can pose with for great holiday snaps. Families seeking a taste of Indonesian culture can visit one of Kuta’s fascinating Hindu temples or explore the Bali Museum for a lesson in art and history.
Shopping in Kuta
Kuta is brimming with shops to appeal to the international visitor. The influence of surf culture is obvious here, with all manner of sportswear and surf stores to choose from. You’ll find fashionable household-name brands as well as souvenir shops, wacky t-shirt sellers and Indonesian crafts in Kuta Square. The Kuta Beachwalk complex is a large indoor mall featuring an assortment of shops and a textile museum, while Discovery Shopping Mall is great for those on a budget.
Dine and Drink in Kuta
With such a range of restaurants and bars to choose from in Kuta, it’s sometimes tricky to know where to start. For something traditional, try the upscale night market Dapur Alam near Legian Beach. After, drink in the sunset over cocktails at a beachfront bar terrace then dance the night away at one of Kuta’s pulsing nightclubs.
