![Impending Storm
This picture is from the archives...I think I took this picture in 2002/2003...

En route to running a quick errand in Fremont, CA, where we lived, I was driving by Lake Elizabeth. On the east side of the lake are the Mission Hills. Since I was driving on the west side of said lake, I had an excellent view of the hills, and was witness to an extraordinary sight. Storm clouds coming up from the south had some ridges in complete shadow, while an adjoining ridge, which was not under the influence of the storm yet, was spot lit by sun. I could see the storm traveling north rapidly, and I knew that the situation would not last. Parking the car, I raided my camera bag for my camera and a telephoto, and with tripod in hand, ran to the water's edge. I managed to setup and expose a few frames, before the sunlit ridge came under the shadow of the storm. The magic was gone and the entire landscape turned a uniform dull gray. 

I don't remember any technical details other than that the camera used was a Nikon F100. I owned the Nikkor 80-200 mm f2.8 lens then, which I was partial to, so that may well have been my lens of choice for this shot. "I thought from reading the previous ratings that this would be a nice place. Boy were we disappointed! They were supposed to have a bar and restaurant. They might have once but not anymore. Rooms were dirty. Nobody was bothering to clean around the baseboards in the bathroom. It’s almost as though they just pushed the dirt to the sides of the room. The breakfast, which was supposed to be included didn’t exist. You could buy a seriously overpriced muffin, dry cereal, etc., but the price was outrageous. The property is being sold so hopefully it will improve, but right now I will avoid it."
