Zingst is a small spa town on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula in North-East Germany. The town lies on the Baltic coastline and is separated from the mainland by the Barth Lagoon. It is surrounded by woods and fields peppered with dozens of walking and cycle paths. The region also offers many spots which are perfectly situated for bird-watching. The spa town itself is also bound to draw you in with its charming atmosphere, untouched beach and delicious cuisine.
Take a stroll along the 12.5 mile-long beach with its well-kept sand dunes and enjoy the majestic view across the clear waters of the Baltic Sea. In summer, the most popular bathing spots are watched over by lifeguards and the town puts out hundreds of deckchairs for visitors to the beach.
Moving inland, you can explore the many walking and cycle tracks in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. A colourful landscape of flowers and green fields can be admired in the summer months, while in spring and autumn you can observe the hundreds of enchanting cranes relaxing in the marshland. Tours through the national park are also on offer and maps of the area are readily available for guests at the spa itself.
It's not only the beach and national park that are of interest, however the town itself has much to offer. You can visit one of the frequent jazz concerts or the local museums and art exhibitions. For families, the Zingster Kinderwelt offers a range of activities for children. The Local History Museum will teach you about Zingst's transformation into a spa town and, in the amber workshop next door, you can admire precious stones and handmade jewellery. Nearby, a range of different market stalls invite you to go on a shopping expedition.
Young visitors will enjoy the town's Experimentarium, where children can experience and learn more about science and technology. The Max Hünten Haus entices in art lovers with a range of photography exhibitions, as well as organising photography workshops and offering information on upcoming cultural events. After a busy day you can indulge in one of the regional fish dishes or traditional German cuisine, before bringing the day to a leisurely end with a cocktail or beer in one of the town's pubs.
Zingst is an enchanting little spa town where you can discover the beauty of the German coastline or simply relax on the beach and watch the world go by.
