A disaster from the start. The room smelled horribly musty and the toiet didn't flush. The safe indicated a low-battery which caused me not to use if for two days. The room was in a distant wing where no amenities were located. The complimentary breakfast buffet was quite good with a nice selection of fruits and local/western options. The pool and central grounds were very nice and it was very, very easy to hail a tricycle to go anywhere in town. Extremely convenient to the airport, but they should warn clients that the airport will be over-run by hawkers grabbing your luggage and pushing you to get into cars with no guidance from the airport on what might be scams or worse. Be aware the hotel is about a 3 minute drive from the airport so keep that in mind. And also, that the hawkers were very aggressive but I didn't find them dishonest in any way..

The hotel is okay considering it's supposed to be the best in Zamboanga. With that said, the standard isn't too high ratings wise. The good: restaurant and staff were polite and excellent in making you feel at home. Room had a non flushing toilet, no towels, the overhead sink light wasn't working, the safe wasn't working, no toilet paper, etc. but I spoke to the front desk and it was taken care of. The security and door people were polite and friendly. The not good: I went to print my boarding passes (every hotel I've stayed at had a self service kiosk so you can take care of it) but the business staff insisted of doing it but failed repeatedly over 24 hours. Whenever we asked for the room to be cleaned (4 times in 8 days), we'd always be shorted of something. Towels, coffee, glasses, toilet paper, etc. Overall, mixed feelings on the stay.

I think this hotel has seen better days. We have stayed here for years when we visit Zamboanga but this visit was very disappointing . Buffet food was not kept hot which is unsafe . Staff was not attentive , bathtub drain was clogged and we saw roaches in the room. The towels were old and rough and looked liked rags . The place needs a makeover and leadership to regain its former reputation . We will be staying at a different hotel in the future.

Room had debris under furniture and an odd smell. Cockroach in elevator area. Connection from old hotel to new tower not at same level. Fruit choices at breakfast very few. Tables not cleared promptly. Windows dirty. A/C in room worked well, room spacious, well located. Staff responsive.

I liked the size of the room: we had a suite, which was nice. The bathroom didn’t provide warm water for a shower, which was disappointing. The elevator to our room was a long walk from the lobby: not very conveniently set up. And while the hotel is big, it seems to be an older hotel that is in need of a refresh: the paneling is tired and dinged up. There’s no discount to compensate for the state of the hotel, either.

Overall, I think the Garden Orchid Hotel is a great choice considering it's the better of the nearby hotels in Zamboanga City. It is located just off the airport property and located nearby the KCC Mall just minutes down the road. What I was disappointed in was the staff not being attentive to maintaining and cleaning the rooms on a daily basis. I just got married in Zamboanga City, and on at least 3 ocassions...I had to contact the front desk to have someone come to clean my room. Even after my wife and I had been away from the hotel for most of the day; hoping to return to take a hot shower, cool down and relax a bit..... The housekkeping staff SUCKS..... They should have a supervisor following up and going behind their staff to make sure all things are done properly. Several times, we also had to contact the front desk to bring washcloths and towels.. I reported a proble to the front desk about replacing some light bulbs which were not working in the room. Of course, again, no one follows up to make sure staff is taking care of the problems. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff very attentive in that department.. I would recommend going to some other hotels, but not many choices in Zamboanga City..... Hope your stay and experience is better than what I had....

The property had clean rooms and had a good gym and swimming pool area. Breakfast buffet was also good with good variety of mainly Filipino and some continental food choices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Some regulations in the hotel did not make sense such as including non pungent odor fruits like lanzones,avocado in a rule that it can onl;y be eaten in the pool area and not in the restaurant or room. I understand that this applies to fruits with a strong odor that can be offensive to others such as durian and marang but including non smelly fruits in this ban category does not make sense. I also did not like some of the dishes in the lobby restaurant and found the prices quite expensive compared to the grill restaurant beside the hotel.

Service was good , almost all request was granted, room condition is good for a 3.5 star hotel. Staff and employees are courteous. W free airport transfer w/c is very convenient. 1 minute away from airport, near KCC mall

I was surprised to find out that the room we got did not include hair conditioner, shower cap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. The drinking water in the room was in a pitcher not in sealed bottles so that the potabilty of the water was questionnable. The shampoo was in sachets which one would buy in sari sari stores when the hotel website says it is a luxurious hotel. It was hard to tear the sachet to squueze the shampoo out with your fingers. Hotel probably expected to use their upper and lower teeth to tear the sachet! I had to go down to the front desk for a pair of scissors by foot (no elevators), The people in the front desk did not have the initiative to help when I called them. They told me that if I chose to stay in the newer building of the hotel the bathrooms would have complete toiletries. How would I know that? I booked online and lack of toiletries was not mentioned in their website. I had a very terrible experience in this hotel. The front desk people are amateurs. This hotel is overrated and overpriced.

This property was very friendly, clean, comfortable. I enjoyed the breakfast. The pool was a bit murky, so I didn't swim. I used the exercise room; it was pleasant. Upstairs, the hall has a very dilapidated carpet. I think that they are renovating it bit by bit, because my room and the hall to my room was very up to date and sparkling good condition. The hotel is really close to the airport (I mean you can walk). I highly recommend this hotel.

Sadly the entire staff needs to go on hospitality seminar / training. Front desk staff on duty in the morning is not accommodating. The food at the cafe for breakfast buffet was good but it seems it takes a long time for them to replenish, you have to wait for 10-15mins. The OJT’s are far better in terms of service than their regular employees.
