“Good value for Xian”

This sheraton isn't quite to the standard I'm used to at other Sheratons, but I think this is to do with the level of standard in Xian in general. The location is not the best (not within walking distance to city center) but it is right by the bus stop that heads straight into town so that was convenient. While I can't fault anything specifically, I think the rooms could probably use a bit of updating/makeover. The best part about the hotel were the concierge/bellboys - they were so helpful with writing down directions, food suggestions, and sightseeing suggestions/logistics. They took great care of us and I get the impression that management cares about service, even if there are some parts of the hotel that are lacking.

Events and shows

Make your way down to the Big Goose Pagoda in the evening at the time of the water fountain show. Have an early enough dinner around there and then show up for the show. Trust me, it's a LOT more than we had expected, this was a blast and actually quite an unexpected, fun surprise.

“Great breakfast!”

We'd been staying at a Sheraton Hotel in Guilin so maybe that's why we were upgraded when we arrived at Sheraton Xian. Just wondered why we'd be upgraded to a disabled room tho' when neither of us were disabled! In spite of that the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a huge range of food on the breakfast buffet and the food was great. A pleasant place to stay.

Traveller's tip

Great place to visit the terracotta warriors but you may wish to check the tour first. We spent most of the day visiting shops when we just wanted to see the warriors. The guide was very sweet until we said we didn't want to visit any more shops but did want to see the old city and heritage places. We paid for a private tour but ended up being returned to the hotel early because we wouldn't buy anything.
