"A nice family stay, quiet village pub. The host was very helpful including recommending an evening meal in the next village which was great (fighting cocks pub). It seems the venue has stopped doing food, but having said that she still provided us with a perfectly good breakfast. The room was clean, a nice little street village view, we all slept well. Great for country walking, a family visit and somewhere quieter in a local pub."

"My friend and I had a lovely stay here last night. We arrived in the afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Karen. We were really well looked after by Karen and her team and nothing was too much trouble. Our twin room was lovely and the beds really comfortable with lovely touches in the bathroom in case we had forgotten anything. Our food in the restaurant was delicious … the best steak I have had in a while and my friend said her burger was amazing. A real gem of a place at Rutland and we will...

"Nice enough staff. The pub looked like a 1970’s Benidorm recreation of a British pub with a ceiling full of beer mats. Food was ok but a little overpriced for pub grub. The outside area was filthy. The doors to the outbuildings that house the rooms were ramshackle. The rooms themselves looked like they were last decorated about 30 years ago. The TV was a 20 year old mini tv with free view that didn’t hold the signal. Neither tv or kettle had a PAT testing sticker. The bathroom was grubby...

"We stayed on after attending a friend’s birthday celebration lunch at The Finch’s Arms. We really enjoyed our stay, the food was delicious, the service was excellent and we had a very comfortable room. Thank you 😊"

"Toilet was slightly dirty, which is not acceptable especially during the current pandemic. Room was dingey and walls dirty, decor in bathroom particularly poor. One tap very stiff to turn. Annoyingly woken in middle of night by loud people around. Not a decent overall stay and we wouldn't stay again, nor recommend it."

"Very welcoming and friendly host. Clean room, comfy bed, diy breakfast in room (toast/cereal/yogurt/tea/coffee/juice) which suited us fine. Quiet location on edge of town. Stamford is a beautiful town to explore on foot. We stayed for one night whilst attending a nearby sports event. Would happily stay here again. "

"Have stayed a few times over the years, the room was nice, but could do with a make over, and the shower needs something doing with it, it isn't a walk in shower, more like a climb in. Food in the restaurant was delicious, even though there wasn't a big choice, it was all delicious, the chef even made fresh apple sauce for one of the party. Hopefully next time we stay, we will see a difference min the room "

"Well furnished and well equipped place which was clean and stylish. We only stayed a couple of nights but enjoyed the peace and break away. We had a lovely meal at The Stag and Hounds- would highly recommend. John was always there if we needed him and was very informative."
