“Would recommend”
A very good, pleasant hotel in a great location - large comfortable room with picturesque river views - modern good-sized bathroom - lovely garden - adequate off-street parking.
“one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at”
This was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The interior decor of the hotel was very old and charming and immediately appealed to us to the extent that we straight away regretted that we were only staying one night. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and it and the bathroom well appointed. Breakfast room gave lovely views over the river. The standard breakfast was an adequate continental one - cooked breakfasts come extra. We would come to Salisbury again just to stay here.
“Well located”
This is the second time that we have stayed at this Hotel and we are very happy with it's location and facilities. This time our stay was for one night and we were able to obtain a great deal for this visit. The room was similar to the one we had previously; a ground floor room with French windows to the garden patio area overlooking the River. One or two minor maintenance issues, for example light bulbs not working, but otherwise excellent. We did not dine in the evening on this occasion, but our Continental breakfast was very acceptable. Drinks in the bar are a little expensive.
“Great location and room but...”
Excellent location and beautiful view from our room of the Cathedral spire across the river. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately food was a big disappointment. Dinner was marginal and breakfast was not up to the standard we have during the previous month's travels across the country. Would recommend as a place to stay, but not to eat.
“A lovely hotel room in Salisbury”
We found our room at the Legacy Rose and Crown Hotel in Salisbury to be lovely, with a view of the Avon and Salisbury Cathedral. The room was large and very nicely decorated. In addition, the bathroom was also large. This room was new or perhaps recently redecorated. The room price included a breakfast which, while called "Continental" was plentiful with a variety of foods on the buffet table. The location was great for walking. It was a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and another 10 or 15 minutes got us to the bus station.
“Nice room; great location”
This inn is in a great location just minutes walking distance from the town centre and the cathedral but set in a pastoral setting on the river. We had a premium room which turned out to be quite large by UK standards and opening to the garden and river. Breakfast is a little sparse, continental only. Overall, a good place to situate to see Salisbury.
“Wonderfu Hotel Experience”
The Hotel was beautiul and the woman who greeted us was kind and cheerful and didn't hesitate to help us find a bank to clear up issues about our currency as well as giving us train times and routes. The surrounding area and grounds were picturesque with lots to do. Our day in Salisbury was fantastic. We would recommend this hotel to anyone!
“Great Place to Stay”
This Tutor age hotel has a Wow location along the banks of the river flowing through Salisbury. Our modern room off the old portion of the hotel had a door exiting to a beautify flowery garden with a lovely river with swans and ducks. This hotel is located just a couple blocks from the cathedral and downtown. Wonderful location with 1300-1400's buildings including thatched houses. Wonderful staff and nice breakfast and dinners available in dining room overlooking the river. Could stay there for weeks! Please get directions before arriving as location is a bit hard to find.
“rather disappointing”
Actually finding the hotel was a bit of a problem as it is on a spur off the main road. No handy signage. The room was comfortable enough but not what I would rate as 4 star. We were on the ground floor, next to the Ladies' loo, which closed noisily, and with a view of the car park. We also had an external door, locked and bolted, leading to the same area. The room warm but we were reluctant to leave the window open as the room felt very accessible to the outside world. As the river terrace and garden was the reason we picked this hotel it was a shame it was reserved for a wedding party, who probably had the rooms with a view on Saturday night.. The service when we arrived was very off-hand and I felt we were unwanted intruders. There are a few tweaks which could be made in staff training which could make the experience more pleasurable, and the overall gloom of the largely brown decor somehow did not add to the joy of the stay. The food was reasonable on the friday evening, but we recommend Best Western in town for food and service, which was excellent. The access to the town was very good, a light stroll, leaving the car behind. We were fortunate to coincide with the festival of arts, and went to an art exhibition and a concert in the cathedral. Found the people managing these events helpful and welcoming.
“Salisbury weekend treat.”
This was possibly our seventh stay at this hotel and we had a very relaxing time. The Hotel is situated very near to Salisbury Cathedral and only a short walk from the shops. We were disappointed not to get a room with a river view, but all of the rooms have been renovated to a high standard anyway. It was also a bonus to be able to access the free, wireless internet from room 9. It is available in the main lounge if it isn't accesible from other rooms. I think improvements could be made to the breakfast service which is part buffet part waiter service (Tea or coffee and toast). The breakfast cereals are poured into bowls and apart from the hygiene issue, you end up spilling some onto the table. They could invest in some tupperware or purchase the individual portion packs instead.
