Functional hotel - but very basic

Posted 01-Jun-2015
We didn't pay much for this room - equivalent to Travel Lodge in price - and we only needed it for a bed for the night. The hotel was clean but very basic. The bed was very spongy (I know, that may be to some people's taste) and the shower head may as well have been a tap! What was rather disconcerting was that the management had removed the fuses from the heater and towel rail so as to prevent anyone turning them on. Somewhat insulting, I mean times may be hard but that isn't really the way to reduce costs (well then again, may be it is!) The hotel room was clean and the staff were very friendly - we turned up an hour before check-in time - they were very happy for us to use the room as soon as it was ready. Perhaps the member of staff sitting behind a pull-down grill could have been slightly bettered as a welcome (I'm guessing insufficient staff to cover the front desk and the house-keeping as on the way out there was nobody there at all - just the grill and a bell! So there you are - as basic as they come but friendly staff and clean.

It's a Premier Inn in disguise

Posted 30-May-2015
There was no bedroom furniture, that's right no chair, no settee, just a bed dresser and TV. The curtains didn't meet so the sun woke me from 4am the first night. However on the second night they left the floodlight security lights on so I had the light shining through all night so the sun didn't wake me in the morning. The fire door outside my room kept slamming all night when so type of easy closure would have helped. The bathroom had mould around the tiles and edge of the bath. The towel rail was rusty Apart from that, it was great. I must say the staff were nice people, the problem they have is the product they are selling is in need of a major refurbishment, or if that fails, sell it back to Premier Inn

Welcoming Hotel

Posted 26-May-2015
Pros: Room was large, clean and quiet. Pet friendly
Cons: The hotel should have spaces reserved strictly for hotel client use within the service area's car parking spaces.
Location: Useful for further travel 'up north' via M25 and M40.
Just returned from Metz via eurotunnel, so quite tired after a long drive. Found reception staff to be pleasant and helpful with meal arrangements. We purchased vouchers which allowed us to eat at any of the 3 restaurants in the Clacket Lane service area at a reduced price. Parking was hit and miss. We were lucky and managed to get a parking bay near the hotel entrance. When I say 'near' it still meant a hefty walk with the luggage backwards and forwards to the hotel entrance. The lack of reserved parking spaces, means that hotel guests are 'mixing it' with service area motorists and may well find themselves having to park at a considerable distance from the hotel entrance.

Very helpful staff, particularly the receptionist, who went out of her way to help with everything she could. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. A good meeting point, nicely situated for what i wanted. It had everything I needed from a quiet midweek stay.

Clacket Lane Stay

Posted 10-Mar-2015 on Hotels
excellent value for price. Very convenient situation. Staff very helpful. First room I was given reeked of stale tobacco smoke. The rooms are all no smoking so obviously some dirty person was breaking all the rules. When I went back to reception I was immediately given a fresh room which was fine.

Does what it says on the tin

Would gladly go again. Yes it is not 5* but excellent value. Quiet despite location, room very clean & had all basic facilities needed, bed very comfortable & clean room. No issues at all. All I would say is to get shower screens not curtains, as curtain in the way a bit when showering, & hot chocolate packets available as, not just tea & coffee. But minor things. Overall, great. Thank you

Extremely convenient for Sevenoaks

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Clean and convenient.
Cons: For a basic overnight stay it was fine.
Location: Sevenoaks, Knole Park, Chartwell.
This hotel was extremely convenient for visiting our son and his family in Sevenoaks. We knew we could book in at any time, have a bathroom to ourselves and allow him and his family to relax overnight with us out of the way!
