European feeling, comfort and convenience

Posted 02-Mar-2015
Pros: Excellent.
Cons: The remodeling left the door handle a little rough. otherwise perfect.
Location: Right on Connecticut Avenue. convenient to up town, down town and cross town. Valet parking. Excellent staff. Good food.
We checked in at 2:30 a.m. and the night manager could not have been more welcoming. Went into the kitchen to brew us a fresh pot of coffee. Friendly, old style elegance convenient to Dupont Circle area. We will choose this for our next DC stay.

We were visiting for the weekend and truly enjoyed this hotel. The staff is very accommodating and plesant. They went out of their way to help you. It's a short walk to metro but also to many shops and great places to eat. I will definitely stay there again.

Convenient and Comfortable

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Pros: Close to Metro and dining. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were spacious.
Cons: Cleanliness could have been better.
This hotel was a good find. It certainly was old - the plumbing was loud, the walls were thin, but I enjoyed the original character of it. It is not a 5 star, but was close to the metro and easy to access. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Wonderful Hotel. Conveniently close to the metro

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Wonderful hotel, easy walking distance to the metro and many other restaurants and activities. Not too noisy with traffic, lots to do in the Du Pont area. The desk staff were lovely, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon, and it was perfect.

Nice Room

Posted 20-Feb-2015
Pros: What I mostly liked about the hotel was the bed. I slept like a baby.
Cons: Maybe have a heating system for the bathroom.
Room was very nice. Bed was very comfortable. The only thing is that the bathroom, although pretty, was very cold.

Stuck in the Past

Posted 17-Feb-2015
This hotel had nothing special. It was just a roof for the night because nothing is memorable except the negatives. The furniture has clear worn marks and there are many lumps on the floor felt through the carpet. The doorways inside the Deluxe suite are awkward as the bathroom and bedroom doors bump each other. The bathroom was cramped even though it had basic bathroom items. Also the internet AND Expedia description is wrong. There was no dining room and dining table nor fancy toiletries. They still advertise the Awakening statue at Haines Point in DC, but the statue left the city 3-4 yrs ago. Finally the staff told me internet was complimentary in the rooms, but the internet says there a surcharge. Needless to say I didn't try the internet because I didn't want a possible surprise bill because most places the written policy trumps verbal policy when making money. The final disappointment was they only have limited basic cable. There were no movie channels or BRAVO. I was bored.
