“Great location”
Valencia is an incredible blend of the new and the old. The new Barcelo Valencia integrates itself as it's location allows it to blend into a city with Roman ,Arabic architecture and the modern works of Santiago Calatrava.
“Great view of science & cultural center”
Front desk staffed with persons who had little,if any, knowledge of restaurants in the area. Was directed to a restaurant that served so-so meal at top dollar prices. (Restaurants in the area charge you a premium for being in the area of the science & cultural center). Good location with convenient in-&-out self parking garage ($25/day). Not an ideal location if you're seeing the town on foot. Refrigerator door broke (just one of those things) sending glass soda bottle crashing to the tile floor. Houeskeeping was slow in responging to clean up glass. Nothing done to address cause of problem (door hinge).
“great location”
The Barcelo is in a great place opposite the City of Arts & Sciences and the Jardin Turia. It is also close to the Aqua shopping centre, Corte Ingles department store and the Palace of Music. If you are a walker then the city centre is only about 30 mins away through the Jardin Turia which has trees, fountains, shade and a couple of good snack bar style outdoor cafes. The hotel is modern and minimalist. The only odd thing is that the room door opens directly into the bathroom and the beds are accessed via the bathroom! But if you are exploring Valencia you won't be spending much time there anyway. There is a useful supermarket if you turn right as you come out of the hotel and turn right up the next street, about 5 mins walk, across the road. There are a couple of restaurants and bars on Alameda, a few mins away, but the city centre is better.
“Some things to be aware of”
Poorly equipped bathroom bits: no cotton buds , a very small amount of shower gel and shampoo to share. no creams on offer. Parking was a staggering 18 Euros a day ! And it wasn't until we got there that we realised that parking on street may mean being double parked on - so we had to use the car park. A reasonably quiet and well located hotel though. Although we didn't try breakfast we found the restaurants on the same street offered a much better typical Spanish menu.
“Excellent for Valencia 'City of Arts and Sciences'”
Hotel a good 4* - excellent room, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast ample - British / Continential options and great fruit. Bus 19 convenient for centre, but quite a walk otherwise.
“Would not go back - ever!!”
The Hotel suffers from a lack of care, poor general cleanliness and miserable staff. Our room had not been cleaned properly for a long time, there were stains on the bedspread, the floor tiles and wooden flooring were not clean, nor was the general furnishings and the toilet seat was broken and had clearly been so for sometime. In the corridor outside our room door there was a large hole in the hallway carpet - a real scene setter for someone just arriving! We booked this hotel on Expedia users recommendations and it did not reflect the previous reviews nor did it meet our expectations at all. The surrounding area, other than the Aquarium etc, is somewhat run down and the choice of quality restaurants within easy walking distance are non-existent. To add insult to injury there was a 16.50 Euro charge per day for car parking. All in all a waste of money and it tarnished our view of Valencia.
“Very impressed”
Super hotel very close to arts science & oceanography museums (fabulous architecture). Friendly & efficient staff on front desk with good English. Excellent breakfast & very comfortable room with kingsize bed. A business hotel but also very good for travellers - we hope to return.
“visiting valencia with my children”
great modern hotel with good size rooms and conveniently located to the city of the arts and science.
“Great place to stay”
I stayed for 5 nights and it was a very pleasant experience. I was in Valencia for a conference and getting to the conference hotel was a little bit tricky. Everything was perfect; only complaint -if there is one - it is a long walk to the Metro station. But taxi stand is literally within a few feet from the front door. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was great at the hotel.
“Perfect place to stay in Valencia.”
First time travelers to Europe from the US. We arrived during a large festival and the hotel was fully booked, so they upgraded us to a junior suite at no extra charge. The room was large, clean modern, with great views. The location is perfect, convenient to everything.
