Vaitape is the island’s administrative centre and has a wide range of amenities, including banks, post offices and grocery stores. Check out the pretty pink Protestant Church with its backdrop of Mount Hue. Explore the shops and markets to pick up exquisite local keepsakes, including Tahitian black pearls and traditional pareo garments. Locally made creations are exhibited in studios, craft workshops and galleries. You’ll also find an antiques store in the town.
