This hotel is very conveniently located in Tromso city center. It is just walking distance from everything in town. Also, the breakfast was amazing. 10/10 recommend.

We stayed in Scandic Ishavshotel for 3nights? This hotel does not provide slipper , tissue box, tooth brush and tooth paste. The shower area is too small. Overall, we have a pleasant stay in Tromso and the location is excellent.

The hotel location is great, super close to all the activities, most buses stops right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was ok but not amazing, dinner buffet was not good. Staff was not very helpful, we could not check in early and hotel was not able to let us know when the room was ready. I lost my kindle in the hotel, also I immediately rang the hotel, nobody could help me until the next day, and sadly they did not find my kindle. It is such a shame because the hotel is in an amazing place but they need a management refresh.

The staff was exceptional. The only reason for the 4 star under staff and service is because of the restaurant menu. The buffet was very good, but rather expensive. The regular a la carte menu was lacking in choices. Having said that, the items we did try were very good.

We had a great view on the water and it was amazing. The buffet is amazing and it is a good way to try norwegian food: fishcake, meatballs, paté, herring, salmon… if you have a chance to talk to the Chef, please do! He was full of info on Norwegian food and traditions! Everything is close by in Tromso, but we did use public transit with the app. And the restaurant back section offers a good view on the Pust Spa where you see some people dipping in the water :-). — we went and I was glad the hotel was close by!

My room had an excellent view over the harbor so that I was able to see many different kinds of ship coming and going. This gave a special perspective to the life of Tromso going on outside the tourist traps

It was underwhelming. Not enough front desk staff or space to handle groups, making the entrance crowded just to enter / leave the hotel and causing long lines if you needed to check in. Rooms not ready until well after 3p and more than 1 had an unpleasant smell. Front desk couldn't find our laundry days after we had dropped it off, causing us to wait for multiple hours before we could leave. Rooms (other than odor) and breakfast were fine.

Next to the harbor and cruise docks, as well as pedestrian streets, the hotel is clean and convenient. The staff is friendly too, which is better than average we experienced in Norway.

Our hotel room was very spacious and we were given the room with the water views. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is roughly 5-10mins walk to the main shopping street. The hotel is also the main pick up location for many tours (many tours also pick up from the nearby bar or Radisson Blu hotel next door). The airport express bus also stops right outside the hotel. So location is definitely the best! The only drawback is the breakfast can get very busy but if you are early, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Terrible service at reception. No smile, no hellos, no help rendered at all. As we reached the hotel early and asked if we could deposit our luggages first, the guy at the reception just grunted at the luggage room and indicated for us to help ourselves. To our horror, the luggage room was full to the brim and we had to find other corners in the hotel to leave our luggages. No help or additional info provided by the receptionist at all, even though he could see our struggles right next to the reception counter.

Great location and the airport bus stops right outside the hotel. And they are very eco friendly. Signs for water conservation in the bathroom, signs advising you what to do if you didn't want your towels/sheets changed around the room (in the effort of conserving). I'm all for that. The room was supposed to be facing the water but they don't tell you about the cruise ships that dock right outside your window and therefore you can't keep the drapes open. Also, there is no phone in the room so if you need to call the front desk you have to use your data and minutes or make a trip downstairs. The safe didn't work. And it took me several minutes to find the switch for the bathroom light. It was placed right below the ceiling. So, good luck if you're under 5'6". Another thing that took me a while to find was the bathroom garbage can. It was affixed to the wall right below the sink. So, you had to squat and lift the lid with your hand and the lid wouldn't open all the way because it hit the bottom of the sink. That was weird. The bathroom floors were heated which I found fantastic!! I have to admit the front desk isn't the friendliest but they're efficient. It just would be nice if they smiled once in a while. I was happy I was there and couldn't help but smile but the minute I got up to the front desk, and every time after that, I felt like I did something wrong because they just had really sour faces. The rest of the staff was great, however.

Overall, this hotel was disappointing for me considering the price and that it’s supposed to be one of the best hotels in Tromso. The tv isn’t able to connect to Netflix or any other apps, so I couldn’t use it al all, there were no USB charging points in the room, no milk for the tea and coffee (you had to go down to reception to get some every time you wanted it), no spoon or stirrer to stir the tea/coffee, no phone in the room to contact reception, not even a box of tissues in the room. Whilst the breakfast tasted nice and there was a good selection to choose from, it was barely warm, let alone hot. The hotel seems quite outdated and I wish I’d have picked somewhere else to stay.

If you want a peaceful vacation then stay well away from this hotel. Very annoyed and upset with my last 2 nights here and the lack of communication from hotel management after I made a complaint. Day 1 was perfect, staff lovely and welcoming and room was perfect. Day 2 was an absolute nightmare, loud parties until 2am, the music was so loud my room door was vibrating with the bass of the speakers. The staff offered to move us at midnight which was a total inconvenience as we had an early start for our tour. Day 3 was even worse, drunken teenagers running up and down the bedroom corridors shouting and screaming all night and trashing the place. When I rang down reception didn't even bother answering the phone. I sent an email on day 2 which didn't even get a response until midnight last night offering to move us which again was a complete inconvenience as we had to be up very early for departure. The fact that the receptionist didn't even ask us how our stay was when we were leaving clearly says a lot.

The Scandic Ishavshotel is very conveniently located. We book tours to see northern lights and Sami village with reindeer. Most pickups are right outside this hotel or a short (<5min) walk. The port for boat is also just down the street. Restaurant all around. Hotel breakfast was amazing!!

The scenery outside the window was very beautiful. The bathroom floor was warm. Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep well because of the sound of the ship vibrating all night long.

Excellent location, a great base for exploring Tromsø, excellent breakfast and a very smart modern hotel overall. My only negative comment would be the size of the room. Technically there were two pull down beds but only one was needed for my 10yr old and it made the room feel quite cramped, especially when you add in luggage. I can only imagine that with two adults and two children it would be almost claustrophobic.
