“North Pole's best 4 star”

This property is not new but it is quite well kept. The staff were very friendly and we felt at ease and comfortable. The included breakfast was superb and well worth it. The room on higher floor and toward the city had a nice view during the few minutes that was a bit light. (24 hours of night was the time we went) The location can't be better. The airport bus dropped us right by the hotel and you can basically walk to most sites and events from Nordic.

Area recommendations

Tromso is an area in Norway to visit for its natural out door events. We were lucky to see the Aurora (norther lights). For this you have to go to the tourist center and take one of the tours outside the city. Dog sledding was awesome. You can enjoy the norther lights while dog sledding! Rain Deers are only good to see. Don't take the Rain Deer sledding because they travel too slow and depending on the temps (often cold) you freeze. The museums are OK but not that exciting.

Dining

Emma's restaurant in town is quite good. I loved the Rain Deer filet steak.

“Loud thumping music until 2.00 a.m.”

A shabby room immediately above the bar where loud thumping music was playing until 2.00 a.m. Sleep impossible. At 00.30 a.m. they agreed to move me. There were few people staying in the hotel. Why was I put in a room immediately above the music? Moreover the room did not accord with my Expedia booking.

In expensive Tromso you have to pay rather more to get a decent hotel.

“Good for some nights”

I stayed at the Rica Grand to visit friends in Tromso. The persons working there were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good and very international, they also serve some fresh fruits and vegetables. The room was okay, but little and i missed some furniture in the bathroom to put a towel. There was also nothing to put the shower gel on, in the shower. But everything was tidy. It was just little bit loud at night and you're able to hear your neighboors;)

Must see

Polaria and the Iceland Cathedral are great!
