Perfect location
Having read previous reviews we weren’t sure what to expect upon arrival. This inn was in a perfect location with spectacular views. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of options and the food in the bar was lovely too. The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean upon arrival and cleaned daily. It is important to remember that it is a 3 star hotel so it’s not going to be perfect, the condition in the corridors was a little worn however the room was lovely and above expectations of a 3 star hotel.

In need of TLC
The building is in need of renovation, not just a lick of paint to cover up the cracks. we arrived after a bank holiday week-end they had run out of beer and most wines. The room was clean but with a very soft mattress. Although a fairly straight forward menu the kitchen was painfully slow and the staff spent a lot of time apologising. There was no sign of a manager, this was more apparent on the day we checked out as it became difficult to get and settle the account at 09.00 am eventually the breakfast waiter and myself worked it out. I do not want to detract from the staff who were fine, helpful and just need support.

I thank the staff for upgrading us even though we arrived just before 9pm. The area had storms that day, but the manager and staff were cheerful and continued to provide a great service. The restaurant and food selection is varied and high quality. The room was lovely and well - equipped with a sea view, very comfortable bed and clean bathroom.

The staff, Manager and experience was lovely. I come here regularly to visit family and every time i am made to feel at home, at ease and comforted. Beautiful.

The welcome and check in was lovely but it went downhill from there. The room was dirty with lots of cobwebs and spiders, hairs in the shower, dirty carpets and marks on the sheets. The bed was very uncomfortable with an old hard mattress and very poor bedding. At breakfast there was initially no staff and the breakfast was cold and took a long time to come. The service was also fairly rude. When we complained we were told that we had 'surprised them' and they were not prepared for us, despite having booked weeks in advance.

We booked and paid for a nights stay on returning from France. Our ferry was late and I rang the hotel to say we would be late arriving to be told that all rooms are fully booked and guests were tucked up in bed. The man I spoke to was very sarcastic and unhelpful. We had a 3 hour journey home in the middle of the night.

Nice hotel right on the sea front - Amazing food
The room was comfortable, and good value for the price. There was some mould in the bathroom that could be dealt with. The food at the restaurant was excellent quality and very good value for both Dinner and breakfast. The Inn sits right above the beach with lovely views from both the restaurant and the room.

Disappointed with my stay but staff great
Our room was ok, the cheap metal bed was noisy, no matress protector and mismatch old pillows so i slept on the towels which were beautifully soft. The shower needed a beach and we only had 1 toilet roll!! Lovely free toiletries. Only 1 sachet of coffee but 6 tea bags haha. Breakfast was lovely. But the overall place needs a facelift and clean. Bit disappointed with my stay.

Inn on The Shore Review
This Inn is a little gem in a perfect location. It overlooks the sea and has good parking and direct access to a lovely beach. The welcoming was perfect -warm & friendly. The room was basic..but clean & comfortable. We dined in and a enjoyed an excellent meal. Menu a little 'busy' ...less is more would be better. Place needed a good clean and a bit of a makeover but overall very good and worth the money.

Awesome sea views
A lovely quiet getaway. Wonderful good. Great beer and a warm welcome. Amazing sea views from our room and a wonderful beach to stroll along from Downderry to Seaton. The hotel is slightly run down but this adds to its charm. A warm cornish welcome awaits. We will return soon.

Room for improvement
Stayed 2 nights. Room needs updating, stained carpet, mattress uncomfortable, flat pillows and curtains hang down in places. Bathroom was cold and extractor fan was dirty and broken. Breakfast both days was disappointing, over cooked and lukewarm. Restaurant was cold and all the heating was turned off. Room was advertised as last one, but out of 5 rooms only 2 were occupied.

Beautiful location but......
Hotel is a bit tired looking and could do with a good clean and new paintwork. Shower had mould and towels provided were inadequate. No bath mat and we had to use a small towel for this purpose. Bathroom not cleaned and towel still on floor. Towels not replenished. No bulb in bedside light. Breakfast was good and we had one evening meal there which was OK. Staff, mostly youngsters, were good and quick to serve you.

Cosy inn with fabulous views and excellent food
This was our second visit to this hotel/inn. We love the views and the local area, and cornwall in general. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. The only thing i would criticise is that the dining room/bar area could do with a bit of a deep clean and a coat of paint here and there. The rooms also could do with a bit of modernisation and maybe some new soft furnishings, better pillows etc. However, generally we love the place and would definitely go back again.

The hotel was overall okay. The room was clean and tidy and well equipped. Generally the whole inn needed redecorating, there were cobwebs around the window frames and the double glazing seals had failed because there was condensation between the two panes of glass. The double glazing units need replacing to the latest standard which would allow you to escape the room via the window openings if a fire prevented you from getting to the fire exit. Some money spent in these areas would encourage us to stay again. A place in Seaton about 1.5 miles away were offering the same size room in an overall better decorative order for the same nightly rate with as good views of the sea. We'll be staying there on future visits but will keep an eye on how the Inn on the Shore develops. The Inn has huge potential with a little investment made.

Inn right on beach,great views in dinning room and good food on menu.Staff friendly and helpful,parking on doorstep and village very nice. Easy access to coast from Rames head to Looe,wonderful coastline. Good value.

Needs a great deal of money spening on this hotel, some progress made but the lining of the dining area curtains was shredded and falling to bits, the floor and services and light shades dirty. We had to go and find the chef to get breakfast. Breakfast was cold, sausage pale and chewy ...i could go on. Day 2 better but nothing left out eg orange juice or cereal, no staff around. Shame as great location

Short yet enjoyable stay
It was friendly, low-key but excellent value, and convivial yet quiet. One or two light bulbs in the room weren't working - these could be checked and replaced. Otherwise - perfect.

Excellent Hotel situated on the sea front, very friendly staff and great food at reasonable prices. Ample car parking and a lovely enclosed children's play area. Plenty of tables and chairs outside so you can enjoy the view. Nice selection of Local Real Ales. I would recommend this hotel and will visit again.

stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, the room was clean, the ensuite was clean the carpet on the landing was dirty and needs cleaning. the breakfast was okay, but if you have a evening meal in the pub downstairs, allow for plenty of time, it took over 2 hours to have a 3 course meal, and because of the delay, they were letting the customers have the starter for free. the hotel is around 6 miles away from looe and is in a quiet area, and every room has a partial view of the sea and the beach is accessible by the steps at the side of the hotel

I booked this as a surprise weekend for my partner for his birthday and was not disappointed. The staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble, the food was faultless and our room was very clean and tidy. I would highly recommend the Inn on the Shore and will definitely coming back

They were very accommodating to our needs, even though we would not be there for breakfast one day they provided a breakfast to go. A lot of hotels say sea views but this one was almost on the beach so no issues there! We would definitely stay again.

I stayed a couple of nights whilst walking the SW Coastal path. The inn is right on the path so very convenient after a tiring day. Really comfortable and good food. Highly recommended.

It was a very welcoming brake, all the staff were warm an gave a welcoming reception. It was a joy to stay at the in on the shore and would recomend it to every one, everything was to a very good standard.

Ideal for restful break
Difficult to review this hotel come pub. Had a lovely peaceful break, staying in the Premier Room, overlooking the sea and shoreline. Room was a bit basic for 'premier status' and slightly tired in its décor but comfortable enough. Fairly remote in its location but with a car, easy access to Looe and Polperro nearby. We ate in for each of our night's stay and the food was of an above average standard. Staff were keen to make sure our stay was pleasant. Satisfied our needs for a quiet few days away were met. No problem in recommending the Inn as long as customers were aware of the limitations and did not have terribly high expectations.
