An oasis between Tamarindo and Flamingo
Casa Mapache is a lovely place managed by lovely people. The spacious, clean room had a king size bed and two twin beds, which was perfect for our family of four with two "tween" boys who don't want to share a bed if they don't have to! The A/C and ceiling fan kept us plenty cool. The bathroom was huge, with two showers! -- what a nice feature. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure Our favorite part was the pool! The water was much cooler and more refreshing than most of the hotel pools that we encountered. And the pool is longer than most, so you can actually do some legitimate swimming. While lounging around the pool area, we were entertained by a family of howler monkeys that was making the rounds through the trees surrounding the property. The hotel is managed by a very nice family who takes great pride in what they do. The breakfast was delicious and the presentation was lovely. The French toast was a pleasant surprise. My only complaint is that the place is called a B&B, yet they charge for breakfast. Perhaps it should just be called a B? The son of the owner (sorry, I'm bad with names) was very helpful throughout our stay and I would like to give him special thanks for pointing us to his favorite beach in the area, which turned out to be our favorite beach on our whole trip! I'm not saying where it is -- you will have to go to Casa Mapache and ask him yourself!

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Mapache B&B! Everyone was super friendly and helpful, including the kind gardener. The place was quiet, clean and very comfortable. The owners went above and beyond expectations to take care of our every need and question. They were very helpful! Merci beaucoup!

Yes, book it! The room was beautiful and large, king sized and comfy bed, very clean, AC and hot water. Lovely pool and grounds. Secluded and peaceful, but close to town (too far to walk-maybe 6km?). Adorable and sweet kitty that my kids loved (who seemed to love us too) and best of all, a great staff! The men who own the place speak English, Spanish, and French, were very friendly and there when we needed them. Upon arrival they offered to do all of our laundry and in 1.5 hrs it was delivered to our door folded and fresh for no extra charge! The groundskeeper also showed my kids a big fat caterpillar he came across while working and even brought us fresh coconuts by the pool. We loved it so much, we stayed an extra night! Only downside was weak WiFi, but a very short and lovely walk into the garden or poolside gave us all we needed to upload photos or research our next destination while enjoying the birds, lizards and butterflies. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it for all travelers!

We loved this place. Friendly management and clean rooms. The property is beautiful and it comes with free parking. Not far from tamarindo. Will come back!

Oasis near playa tamarindo
This is a real gem / oasis away from the noisy beach but close enough to be such a practical hotel. The place is so beautiful with flowers everywhere with a perfect pool. The young French couple owner are so sweet and great hosts

Very nice property and room. The room was spacious and comfortable- ours had a small kitchenette with sink and small fridge (no microwave or stove). Beds were comfortable. The property is behind a gate so it feels secure. Owners live on the property and are very attentive and work to anticipate your needs. This in conjunction with the fact that it seems to be a very small resort, sometimes it felt as though we were almost being watched in case we needed anything. I like to be a little more anonymous, so this is my only nitpick. Breakfast was an extra charge, but tasty. There is a buffet setup for some items, and they will cook eggs/pancakes/french toast as you request.

A great laidback place for vacation for couples or families. The staff is really amazing and very attentive. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. The pool was very calming with perfect temperature. Really quite and peaceful. We stayed there for 2 nights and were very sorry to leave. We will definitely get back. The only problem was a bit of an ant problem around the property.

Casa Mapache is not in walking distance to anything. The property is beautiful and full of birds and insects. It is very exotic and i did have problems with insects in my room, however, i kind of expected it since it is located in the center of the woods. Nice pool. Nice people. Delicious breakfast. Secluded hideaway. Car needed.

The hosts were a delight! Stephanie always came to greet us yet gave us the space we needed. The breakfasts were delicious! Homemade jams, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit, and eggs how you want them. The grounds were in immaculate shape!

No real internet and a $10 cab ride to Tamarindo. There are no amenities or restaurants within walking distance. You really need a car. But there is definitely something to be said for not being in Tamarindo. Very peaceful at Casa Mapache.

Thank you for staying at Casa Mapache! I am sorry for the dysfunction of the internet which is of course solved! But unfortunately it's beyond my control. On the other hand I gave you a check out really late .... There is a grocery store 500 meters so within reasonable walking distance. Thank you for writing an opinion, it is true that Casa Mapache is far from the hustle and is a very peaceful place!

The best place ever. The owners are very friendly and super helpful. Garden and pool are amazing and our room with patio was just the best we stayed in long time. French breakfast was super delicious and we would have love to stay longer in this place if we could. Simply excellent!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Casa Mapache! Stephanie our host was so friendly, and very helpful with giving tips for the area. Our bungalow room was very clean, and styled nicely. The only recommendation from my fiancé is for a fan or vent to be installed into the toilet room. Other then that, the whole experience was 10/10. Safety behind a closed gate, friendly staff, cute dogs and a very clean spacious cooking area available for guests to use!

Exactly what a B & B should be
Stephanie’s gracious hospitality, eye for beauty and attentive management have created an oasis just 12 km from tourist central in Tamarindo. We loved the 100% French cotton sheets, comfortable mattress, thick towels and private patio. Breakfasts include Stephanie’s bread, brioche and crepes baked fresh each morning along with tropical fruit and omelets. The pool was a generous size and was the perfect place for a swim after a day sightseeing. What sets Casa Mapache apart are three things: friendly and well-trained staff including the quietly efficient gardener; the beauty of the grounds, and the design of the breakfast, kitchen and common area. We were there 6 nights and bought food locally which we were able to prepare in the well provisioned kitchen. The common area was set up so that it allowed for conversation among the guests – if you were so inclined, and we were. From Stephanie and other guests we discovered Playa Danta with the best lemonade at Limonada, Punto Tranquilo the restaurant down the road and our own discovery, Santa Rosa National Park, an historic site 1 ¾ hour drive north (107 km). This is an exquisite place to recharge your batteries. Very highly recommended.

Perfect place to stay!
Great B&B! Breakfast was nice every morning. Great beds. Nice pool. Quick taxi ride to Tamarindo. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend! If I had to give it one negative(which this isn't a negative really), it is that the wi-fi does not reach all rooms so we had to go outside over to the pool to use it. Like I said, not really a negative!

Beautiful family owned hotel
Excellent hotel. The owners were extremely nice. The hotel was beautiful. The cabins were very clean and all the furniture and decoration beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. We did not have wi-fi in our cabin unfortunately, but l was able to work from the very comfortable kitchen. I would think twice before booking if you don't have a car, as it is not close to anything from a walking distance and there are no sidewalks. It was our case.... But that was our mistake. We did2not check the nai and thought it was in Tamarindo. That being said we managed to do everything we wanted and the hotel quality made up for the inconvenience. If you have a car, you will be very happy: between Tamarindo and Playa Conchal in a beautiful quiet little oasis.

The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed our one night stay here. This bnb is close to the beaches but far enough to provide a quiet night's rest. The property is beautiful. Homemade breakfast was also very delicious. I definitely recommend staying here.

A hidden gem
Our hosts were as sunny as the skies. Always available and helpful. The property is like a secret garden on a rustic back road. Great place to relax around the pool or take off to a variety or nearby beaches: from busy resort (Tamarindo) to 'almost' totally private (Dantita). Would stay here again!

Casa Mapache is like a private oasis
We had a little trouble finding the place at first but once the gates opened we were amazed and relieved at the same time. It's a modestly sized facility (6 cabanas) which allows guests to become familiar and friendly. The outdoor space with the Rancho and pool are stunningly green and lush. The beds are very comfortable, medium in firmness. The hosts are very friendly and go out of their way to facilitate and accommodate needs of the guests. Breakfast was light but delicious with fresh fruit, juice and homemade bread and jams every morning, oftentimes with eggs, crepes, pancakes, etc. One of the more unique and enjoyable experiences we've had in our travels.

Recently spent two (2) nights at this charming bed & breakfast. The location is close to Tamarindo and several other local beaches; however, it is peaceful and quiet with a lovely pool and outdoor area. Our rooms were beautifully furnished and the beds were incredibly comfortable.

We stayed at Casa Mapache for a work trip and fell in love with the place. We'll definitely be back for holidays to be able to enjoy it a little more. Clean and comfortable rooms, great bathroom, close to most beaches, delicious pool, and the best homemade bread served for breakfast. You won't regret choosing Casa Mapache

Excelente opcion cerca de todo..!
Una estadia placentera y agradable. El unico detalle mas no un problema fue el WiFi que en mi habitacion costaba un poco conectarse. Pero en realidad la estadia, la amabilidad, la atencion y el lugar en general supero mis expectativas. Y el hotel tiene acabados muy finos dentro de las habitaciones. Muy recomendado tanto en familia, amigos o negocios.

Casa Mapache:Un petit coin de paradis Durant notre périple de 2 semaines au Costa-rica, casa Mapache a été notre meilleure trouvaille - au calme et à moins d’un quart d’heure de superbes plages comme Playa grande (notre préférée) et Conchal (côte Matapalo est vraiment top). Le petit déjeuner fait maison est de qualité, très copieux et varié Merci à Coralie et Thibault pour leur gentillesse et accueil

El lugar es esplendido, uns pidcins muy linda y un parque muy bien cuidado. La habitación fue muy comoda y es muy destacable la limpieza. La unica contra es que el wifi era intermitente o casi nulo y solo conseguia buena señal cerca de la recepción. Es necesario ir con auto ya que en los alrededores no hay nada en absoluto, pero se encuentra entre 10 y 30 minutos de todas las playas del norte de Guanacaste.

En cuanto a la atención brindado por Tibo uno de los dueños del hotel, siempre amable y con excelente sentido de servicio, siempre a colaborar. Instalaciones seguras, parqueo privado, habitaciones muy limpias, ordenadas, todos los días recibíamos servicio de habitación, limpieza y cambio de paños. Zonas en común limpias y cuidadas. Volvería a visitar de nuevo el establecimiento.

Nous avons séjourné en famille du 18 au 23 février avec une nuit supplémentaire réservé sur place, endroit tranquille à seulement 10 minutes de toramindo ou des plages de couchal, la propriétaire Stéphanie (française) d'une très grande gentilles toujours souriante et disponible est plein de conseils pour ces autres, les arbores entretenue quotidiennement, grande piscine, les chambres spacieuse avec une excellente literie , nous conseillons vivement cette établissement
