Close to freeways

The room was nice but there were no towels in the room upon our arrival and it took 20 minutes after i called to receive them. Tubs would not drain while in the shower either. The bed was comfortable

Pros: Great bed
Cons: Access to the hotel is a bit dodgy during high traffic hours.
Location: Close to JBLM and Tacoma Mall. Not too far from Point Defiance Park.
This facility is definitely a bit dated, but they are working on it now. The front desk staff was in training and they need to put a bit more effort into it. It was a bit painful upon arrival. After that, the experience was great. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Pros: free breakfast was great, the room itself was fine, beautiful view of Mt. Rainer
Cons: upgrade the pool, point the lights in the parking area downwards instead straight at third floor windows
Location: Denny's and Subway are right across the street, Bass Pro Shop and movie theater not far away, Tacoma Mall is pretty close
loud guests the first couple nights we were there, pool area looked dirty, pool area was poorly lit, pool did not smell like chlorine and I was worried about my kids using the pool and maybe getting an infection since the water didn't smell chlorinated

Nice room. Felt safe. Lots of families on the weekend we stayed, so a little noisy. But otherwise excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay here again.

Boarded windows in a shady section of town

Location: Scary location
For the cost, I expected it to be a nice hotel in a nice area. I was clearly disappointed when we pulled up and there were windows covered in plywood, garbage around the parking lot and the booming of the music from a club across the street. The inside was being painted-tacky. The buffet breakfast was always out of food and there were children running through with no shoes on. I was very disappointed.

Cons: The plug in in the bathroom malfunctioned and when I pressed the reset buttons it still would not work.
The room was absolutely lovely. The people at the front desk were very helpful. The selection for breakfast was amazing.

NOT the quality you'd expect from the Red Lion

Pros: Um, I can't think of one single thing...
Cons: Don't sell it as a "Red Lion" hotel. Be honest and market it as the overpriced, no-tell motel that it actually is.
Location: TERRIBLE location.
I've stayed in many Red Lion hotels across the pacific northwest. They have always clean, neat, with wonderful amenities (pool, on-site restaurants, etc.) and located in a nice part of town. This is NOT one of them. The staff, while nice, certainly weren't going to go above and beyond on anything here. Our room was disgusting. A fingernail clipping on the floor, dust everywhere, and the smoke alarm was taped over with plastic (??). The TV barely worked. The pool was dirty and completely under-lit at night. The hotel is not in Tacoma - it is in Lakewood, one of the more notoriously bad neighborhoods. We ended parking our car under our window to keep an eye on it because there were two cars in the parking lot with young men sitting in the driver seat each night. They were not staff and I don't think they were guests (why would you sit in your car for hours at a hotel parking lot?). I have no idea what there were doing, but I can only assume it was to possibly do a little "smash and grab" of the guest cars parked there. The hotel sits at the corner of I-5 and a busy road. It was noisy, the walls were thin and the smell of the greasy breakfast would flood our room at precisely 6 AM each morning. Frankly, I'm surprised that the Red Lion would lend their brand and logo to this facility. It certainly does not do their reputation ANY favors.

Cons: Everything, maybe consider gutting and starting over...
Location: No, that was a horrible experience too, Applebee's can even ruin a cheese burger!
This place is run down and the rooms are... there is no words to describe the rooms here. I was completely disgusted with this place, I left early just to get out of the room.

Alarm kept going off from what staff said was from paint they were painting in 1 section. Heater kept making horrendous sounds after pauses. Breakfast wasn't all that great either. Overall not worth the money when you can't rest.
