Just passing through

Posted 19-Sep-2014
Pros: convenient location
Cons: Steps to the entry on the drivers side of the drive up for registration.
The room was for the handicapped which I thought might be a little easier for my wife to get around in. She has some walking issues. The room was small and crowded, there was only one chair, and the closet would have been impossible for someone in a wheelchair let alone difficult for normal elderly to get too. The remote for the TV didn't work and the shower was barely luke warm. It appeared that the plumbing (hot & cold) were hooked up backward. The bathroom was crowded as well with a small vanity that personal items were crowed.

Half the hotel was shut down. Bad neighborhood

Posted 17-Sep-2014
I am a business owner from Portland OR. We had a convention to attend, and I booked rooms for myself and five stylists from my salon. There was one outlet available in the room. (Not a good fit for a stylist). Staff was nice and very accommodating. That would be the only reason for a star. Neighborhood was terrible. We were warned not to go to the club across the street as there had been multiple shootings there. The hallways seemed as though they were the set for The Shining. I was surprised I didn't see duct tape holding things together. The A/C hardly worked, missing paint on walls, carpet was dirty in every corner, outlets were falling out of the walls. The breakfast was decent, but horrible coffee

Surprisingly Comfortable

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: In Room TV directory required updating with correct channel numbers. Also the hotel needs a hotel channel with current TV programs.
Wonderfully accommodating receptionists. Great room for the money with a very good breakfast and WiFi connection. Some of the other guests were inconsiderate and noisy in the a.m. by slamming doors, etc.

Nice hotel close to I-5

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: It was close to I-5, shopping and restaurants.
Cons: Remodel room so there is privacy for the commode area.
Location: Tacoma Dome was 5 miles away, we stayed there to go to an Eagles concert.
Very spacious room, we were in the King suite with Jacuzzi tub. This room appeared to have been remodeled as the light switches to some areas would be across the room. The bathroom was nicely appointed and updated with granite, however there was no privacy for the commode area. It was completely open to the whole room. You could have others who may be staying with you go into the front room and close those doors, but that was a little awkward. Overall nice room, breakfast was good. The night front desk person, locked the front doors to hotel for safety, which I thought was interesting. Not sure if this was considered "a bad area of town" but we did see some questionable people walking around there at night.

Good comfort

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: The comfortable beds.
Cons: Need some work on the mold accumulating under the edge stripping around the tub. Paper towel soaked in bleach and left on overnight will usually do it
Location: Not much. But many of us were there to attend an event at the Tacoma Dome.
Gave us a quiet room when we requested same. The rooms at Red Lions are always tastefully decorated and, most importantly, have very comfortable beds. For the price, it's a treat!

Nicer hotels within viewing distance of the window

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Next to I-5
The hotel is dated and needs updating to compete. We traveled for a week to 5 different hotels and this was by far the worst. The room, pool and such needs a major refresh.

Posted 21-Aug-2014

stink stank stunk

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: bed was comfortable, that was it!
Cons: tear down and rebuild
Location: right beside I-5 so it can be noisy
Room smelled horrible, stains on carpet, curtain, and chair. TV picture was fuzzy. 3 light bulbs were burnt out. Toilet would stay running. The hotel rear door wouldn't open with our key. For breakfast i was able to have egg crumbs and yogurt.(they were out of everything else.) This hotel is below average, I don't understand how people can give it a "good rating". Do yourself a favour and spend a little more and stay at the Holiday Inn across the street.

We value each and every one of our guests and I truly apologize that we failed to provide you the best possible service. There is no reason, nor is it acceptable, to be checked into a room that was not properly cleaned. I would like to apologize for the poor quality of food at breakfast as well. I would like to assure you that this will be addressed accordingly with our housekeeping staff to prevent this from happening in the future. Thank you for your feedback you are a valued guest and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you better service in the near future!

Needs a Makeover STAT!

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: The desk staff were very courteous.
Cons: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN - inside & out
Location: Location is close to the freeway, that's a plus. A few fast food places SUBWAY & DICKEY"S BBQ are across the street.
The Red Lion staff was very kind. Even with the accommodating staff we could not overlook the poorly cared for hotel. We changed rooms multiple times! First because food & hair were stuck to the carpet & the bathroom was filthy. The second room smelled of cigarettes, mildew & soured milk . 3rd room we took over a few others offered, it was manageable but far from even a 2 star. As we walked through the hall I had to cover my face with my sweater because of the smell. Looking out the window to the outside corridor were bird droppings and feathers everywhere. This Red Lion is in desperate need of some elbow grease, CLEANING and scrubbing. My hope would be that they close parts off at intervals & completely renovate or at very least thoroughly clean . Exercise room was in poor shape too. :o( . After a night there we could not stay another day & found a room at another hotel.
