Convenient to I-5--but overpriced

Red Lion Hotel is a slightly decrepit place. It offers basic hotel rooms and a decent breakfast, but wants to be repainted and recarpeted. Its appearance and general condition suggest that it was completed in 1982, and has been untouched ever since. We found the hotel to be quiet and reasonably secure, but it is a 2-star outfit charging 3-star prices.

Nice place. Close to shopping and restaurants.

Pros: The staff
Cons: Coffee pot in the room
Location: Right off of the freeway and lots of choices to eat and shop at.
The first room I booked had a really bad leak. Called the front desk and they were very kind and helpful. The next day after I had attended my event they had me all set in new room.

Staff is only there to collect pay check especially during breakfast. Anytime when two employees we ere seen together they stood talking ignoring customers. They don't maintain breakfast items.

I stayed for 3 nights for a training I was attending in Tacoma. The room was clean and pleasant overall. I found that I had trouble getting the temperature right. Either it would be too hot or too cold. The staff was pleasant but seemed a bit scattered. The exercise room had 3 pieces of equipment all of which were in working order. The pool was a nice size and the jacuzzi was large. Breakfast was fairly standard. The eggs looked rubbery so I did not take any. The waffles were standard fair.

Great staff and reasonable prices

The hotel itself is showing some signs of age and there are apparently plans to continue renovating it, but it serves it's purpose in its current state. The facilities are very basic, but generally clean and functional. It is not a resort style of hotel that anyone would want to spend lounging all day in. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. They were eager to help and quick to be of assistance. It is always refreshing to be somewhere that emphasizes and delivers quality customer service. This hotel best serves someone needing a few days in the Tacoma or Seattle area. We were attending a wedding in Tacoma and decided to lengthen our stay so that we could spend a couple days doing touristy things in Seattle and Tacoma. The hotel is about 35 minutes from Seattle and 10 minutes from downtown Tacoma. The neighborhood didn't seem to be great, but I did not feel unsafe at any time.

The room had coffee supplies but no coffee maker.

Pros: There was a pool, free breakfast and it allowed family of 5. The staff was polite and appologetic
Location: The location was on the outer part of town. Wildwaves themepark is a few miles away.

Hotel was as described

Posted 09-Jul-2015
Pros: Liked that room did not face freeway. Bed very comfortable
Cons: Better air conditioner.
Location: Well situated. Only 27 minutes from Museum of Glass.
Air conditioner could have been cooler. Other than that, excellent.
