The property and our stay was excellent in many respects the venue is beautiful and our room. No 9 was nice clean and tidy. However some the tiles in the bathroom were about fall of which detracted look of the room. Small other minor details were missing too like only one coaster to put your tea or coffee on and only one mug for mouth washing in the bathroom. These things were swiftly resolved when staff were notified. Breakfast was absolutely first class cooked to order and tasted wonderful with fresh ingredients. Alisa was our main contact in reception and elsewhere too. She was kind helpful and polite at all times and made every effort to make us welcome during our stay.

Lovely overnight stay
We found this to be a lovely hotel, spacious room and comfortable furnishings, all very clean. The dinner menu had limited choice but did have what we wanted. Cooked breakfast was good value and tasty but only available after 8 o'clock. The staff were excellent though, friendly, polite, helpful with a smile.

Couple on a leisure break
We loved the hotel and were made most welcome by all your staff who couldnt have been more attentive , helpful and polite. Your cleaner made a special effort to finish a room early for family joining us on the second night and reception changed the room allocation for our convenience. Our room no.7 was clean warm and comfortable. The bathroom was adequate but needs a little updating and attention to some small details....However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the delicious food. Would absolutely recommend and will be back!

The staff here are very friendly and work hard to meet all your needs. The hotel itself is a lovely listed building but is in need of an update in areas. However the grounds are lovely and must be marvelous in summer.

Great overnight stay
Lovely overnight stay on our journey south. Clean and tidy with a great breakfast. Also, special mention to Allisa(?) who gave us a lovely welcome and remained attentive throughout. Room was spacious, clean, and tidy. The outside of the building could do with a freshen up.

Restaurant was a real highlight, both evening meal and at breakfast. Rooms are massive, staff very helpful and friendly. Table to work from (laptop) in room is a bit small, so if needing to work in the evening for more the one evening, I'd possibly stay elsewhere. but ultimately I will stay again

It is a lovely place, the reception staff on arrival were very friendly and helpful, the room size was very spacious,we were on a corner of the building so had double aspect views, some of the tiles in the bathroom need attention, as they have blown and will eventually fall off and some need re grouting. The queen bed was very comfy and the food quality in the restaurant was very good, breakfast was also very good with a good choice and vegetarian and vegan options available, the staff and chef were very helpful on the evening and rustled up a veggie meal that wasn't on the menu for my wife. Also at breakfast they managed something that wasn't on the menu. Would definately go back

Amazing experience, can't wait to go back
This was a one night stay for 2 family couples. Staff and accommodation were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The building itself was beautifully kept, the entrance hall was breathtaking as you looked up to see the lighting and painted ceiling above. Both breakfast and dinner were lovely and reasonable. Other guests stayed in the dining room during the evening, socialising, as did we, we played games later. Our rooms were good sizes, with all we needed and quiet. Only thing missing was a lift, but that would have been hard to fit, given the layout of the hotel.

Fading luxury?
Very nice building and grounds, however some things are in a shocking condition and I’m surprised the room we stayed in was being used as we couldn’t even shut the bathroom door. The lock on the door was also broken off and the shower temperature was limited to tepid, which would have been realistic annoying if the weather hadn’t been warm. Furniture was a mix of decent quality and old Ikea carcasses being used as bedside tables. Breakfast was barely adequate; a single small sausage, half a mushroom, 2 dried out bacon rashers and a single egg. Plenty of toast and spreads. The staff, who we saw, 2 of them, were v pleasant and friendly

Gorgeous historic hotel from the 1800's. We had a large room upstairs. We packed an overnight bag as you go up several stairs. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Food and service outstanding. We loved it ❤️

Stayed here on a Saturday evening . There was a wedding on, but they had phoned and warned me a couple of weeks beforehand . The room we had was the attic room, which was lovely and clean, just dated

Staff were outstanding and always helpful. Dining disappointing. Not particulary inspiring choice of burgers, sausage and mash and pan fried sea bass, and remained the same for two days. Breakfast first day was from a menu, second morning was self service (yuk!). Prices of drinks were horrifyingly expensive!!!!!! Rooms obviously not checked by housekeeping as shower gel in bathroom empty (not realised until in shower!) and no shampoo. Put right by ever helpful staff.

When quaint and old becomes a nightmare
I was put in an attic room that smelt 'old'. It was a musty and stale smell. After leaving I had to wash all my clothes and belongings as they had this smell. When turning on the cold water tap the pipes banged really loudly. It was like a horror movie. The bed was an old divan style bed that was really hard - the pillows were as hard as bricks. The decor is really dated. I do not think this room has been decorated for decades. I did not sleep well.

Although it is now a hotel a lot of the history is still with the house, which we don't want to lose. Did you raise any of these points whilst staying at the hotel as the team are well known for their customer service and striving to make your stay extra special, please see some of our other revies. By raising any concerns during your stay we have the opportunity to put things right for you. The team at the hotel are here to make sure you have a great stay, it is therefore really helpful for us if you can talk to us whilst you are staying with us. This then gives us the opportunity to make sure you have a great stay and leave happy in the morning. We would always ask that you give us the chance to put things right if you are not happy, this is so much more beneficial for the Hotel and you as the guest.
