This hotel is right next to one of the best Gower beaches. Once you have arrived after battling through the narrow Gower roads, you may well not need the car again until departure. On the spot are beach and coastal path walks, and there is an adequate bus service for trips further away. The staff are high quality and engaging, but (probably to be expected for the location) this is not a cheap hotel. Example prices are £4.50 for a pint of beer and £14.95 for fish and chips. The food was generally good - the vegetarian meals were excellent. The dining room was packed out for breakfast. I have seen more limited breakfast choices of food, but it was not what we expect for such a hotel - eg fresh grilled tomato was not served. Our luxury double room (Pobbles) was comfortable and had a good sea view, but was rather cramped - especially the bathroom. We will probably return as the location is so good.

The rooms were beautiful, we came for a wedding and everything was great, apart from one barmaid serving in the marquee that looked like she didn't want to be there. We asked for drinks and she kept saying they didn't have it when we could see the bottle behind her. Reception staff were so so friendly and the wedding was great. Breakfast was lovely and the inside of the hotel was amazing especially the ceremony room and breakfast room. We definitely will be back to visit with our family.

Poor choice
Made to feel slightly unwelcome as the hotel caters for weddings ( both days) and normal guests are quite simply treated as second class citizens - example - being locked out of the lounge ( only comfy seats in the hotel) as the wedding party were using it. Add to this other wedding related disappointments like the 5:30 check-in time and it’s a big no from me.

Liked the property overall, stunning views. Downside no disabled assistance at any entrance to the reception, no lifts to rooms as their are no floor level rooms in the hotel. Not really suitable for disabled people they should advertise the fact. Loved the hotel but would not use again for the above reasons.

Due to the age and building restrictions around the main hotel building, which is a listed building, we are not able to adapt some things as other, newer buildings might be able to. We're sorry that you found the access not to be suitable- we do have alternative access and rooms that can have adapted entry in other areas of our property- most of our guests with disabilities let us know in advance and we advise them personally and provide a personalised service suited to them.

Cannot fault the location, wonderful sea views at breakfast. I stayed in one of the secret garden pods. A few issues with cleanliness which were only minor but disappointing all the same given the price and detracted from what was comfortable stay. I would say you are certainly paying for the location rather than the property itself but I can’t deny that the location is worth it! My tip would be to book directly with the hotel as there are deals to be had which aren’t available via online third party booking sites.

Simply Perfect
Hotel not ideal for less abled people due to steep stairs and no lift.This is the only complaint. Otherwise it was absolutely wonderful. The room was comfortable and had an amazing sea view to wake up to. Dining area is soo romantic if that's what your looking for with it's exposed tree trunks supporting the roof and fireplace with tealight candles on every table accompanied by ambient spot lighting. Food was delicious and vast and staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself is in an idealic position overlooking Oxwich Bay with breathtaking views and set in delightful grounds. I highly recommend.

Minimal but comfortable.
Spent 3 nights there this week in a secret garden pod. Minimal but comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and plentiful. Felt it was a bit rushed on Friday morning but they were busy. Lovely to watch the sea as we ate breakfast. Perfect for a day on the beach and plenty of parking.

Great hotel, shame about the room.
Everything about the hotel is great apart from the room ("pod" cabin). Far too small, no wifi and TV did not work.

Amazing hotel! We booked The Three Cliffs deluxe room. The view from the room was astonishing! Enjoyed that. Room itself was okay. I didn’t see anything ‘deluxe’ there but that’s not the point. The stuff was friendly as well. Couple of tiny little issues. Couldn’t find a parking place in our arrival as the car park was full due to some kids festival, so my husband got nervous after a long way from Nottingham. The breakfasts are alright but not a big variety of food. Overall I’d give them 4 out of 5. And I do recommend this hotel for everyone because of the location and affordable prices.

2 day break 12-14 April. Weather cold and very windy. However the hotel coped very well as we all wanted to be inside. A shame about the weather as Oxwich Bay beach and the Rossili area looked lovely

Not what expected as we booked a room to in the main hotel to find out this was an annex 300 meters down road from hotel, and bar and restaurant. So not very convenient. Not very pleasant on reception to our complaints. Also overcharged on leaving. Would think twice about going again.

We are sorry that you were not aware you were booked in the cottage room (annex). We have recently become aware of mapping errors in the back end of the system that have meant that guests thinking they were booking a hotel room were actually booking a cottage room on our system. We have now rectify this, but we apologise that you did not get the room you expected.

Pod-tastic!
We enjoyed a last minute getaway to The Oxwich Bay Hotel. Our accommodation was a pod located in The Secret Garden part of the hotel. The pods are in the there second year or season so still look very smart both inside and outside. Inside there is everything you need for an overnight stay with everything in it's place, inside the cosy pod. Very warm, clean and comfortable too. The pull-down double bed was a bit of a novelty and clever piece of design. The food in the restaurant was delicious and to a very high standard. The chef and team in the kitchen certainly know what they are doing! Breakfast was very welcome too and the view of the sea whilst eating it was a delight. Our only regret is that we both wish we could have stayed longer.

Deeply disappointed.
Bedside lighting no good for reading. The room was pokey, not our idea of a luxury room especially at £179/night for b and b. The best thing was the view but you had to sit on the end of the bed to enjoy it. We thought that we had booked the best accommodation as it was our wedding anniversary choice and hence our disappointment. The general decor was dark, brown, black and gloomy; it did not match the wonderful seaside setting. The dining room was ill-lit, difficult to read the menu, and the lounge was equally dark and not coducive to relax in.......Well you did ask!

The first room we were offered was a disgrace and we refused to stay in it. The second room was adequate for the two night stay we had booked. The location is good, the staff were good and the food was reasonable but quite expensive for what it was. It appears that most of the rooms are actually outside of the hotel and situated in static homes our outlying cottages which necessitates a 200 yard walk to the hotel, ok in good weather not so good in the rain. In all honesty, despite the good location, I would not recommend this hotel to a friend for fear of them being disappointed.

Oxwich Bay Hotel
Relaxing stay at hotel right on beach in quiet picturesque location of Gower Peninsula right next to a nature reserve and coastal path. Very comfortable room in an annex (Old Post House) so nice and peaceful.

Nice Hotel right on the beach
The hotel was lovely and all of the staff were welcoming and friendly. We got a free upgrade which was kindly received. The Room was very nice. I marked 4 for comfort only because there was no air conditioning in the room. It wouldn’t usually be a problem but it was particularly warm when we stayed. The food is good, the drinks a bit pricey but that’s what you get for staying in a prime location. I’d definitely stay here again.

Excellent position; lacking a little polish
Staff very helpful; location excellent. Shame that we were greeted with the news that we were in an 'annexe' and recommended to get into the car and drive back the way we came. The room itself was very pleasant, but away from the main hotel facilities (e.g. wi-fi).

Selected for its location, which is stunning, the hotel is immaculate, clean and comfortable. Strolled through the woods, 6miles across the beach- lush Have to say that the restaurant service for our evening meal was shocking, weren’t ask if we wanted a drink and after 20min my husband had to walk to the bar, second drink never appeared either. This was a real shame as the food was delicious. Breakfast service & food was spot on! We stayed in little Tor, it is very small but very comfortable with all you need. Definitely look to return

Lovely hotel by the bay !
I stayed in the pod / secret garden and have to say although 'compact' it is lovely. When you arrive your pod lounge has a sofa and then housekeeping pop round later and turn it into a bed and it was actually comfortable ! WIth snow and -5C outside, there is also a built in fan heater in addiiton to the radiator which meant I was warm all night. Plenty of parking, lovely food, polite prompt service - can't fault it. The only lacking is wifi in public areas only i.e. not that I could access from my pod It is right by the bay and restaurant views for breakfast overlook this. Also they have a cosy restauraunt with a real fire and a nice lounge area to boot. WIll stay again !

Warm welcome at the Oxwich Bay this week. Some of the main hotel is dated and need of a decor refresh but the pods (self contained bedrooms) are absolutely superb. We loved the tranquility, cleanliness and comfort of our room. We ate just across the sand at the Beach House which is stunning and only takes about a minute to reach by foot. Breakfast was fairly good and service all round was really fantastic. Only real issue were the countless screaming kids in the restaurant - but you cannot blame the hotel for that! Overall a decent place to stay in a great location. With a restaurant and bar makeover, it would be fantastic.

Amazing location
The hotel is right on the beach - really beautiful location and great for an early morning swim. It's expensive though, and the room was small and rather bland in an annex off the main building. There was no wifi - i asked and the receptionist said she'd check but it never came on. Breakfast was OK - we had the rather chewy vegetarian sausage version and it was also rather bland. Despite this it was a lovely place to be with beautiful walks, sand dunes, sunsets, ponies and of course the wild sea on the doorstep.

Expensive but a good night's sleep
I ended up staying in one of the hotel's cottages. Comfortable and clean but could do with some updating. The communal area of the cottage had a slight smell of dog but as I didn't spend any time there it did not worry me. For what I needed it was an expensive place to stay at £130 a night - I did not have breakfast nor use the bar or restaurant in the hotel. A very picturesque location but unfortunately this was a business trip and I don't think the hotel is geared up for business travellers e.g. breakfast doesn't start until 8am. Also an invoice wasn't provided for my stay. There was no wifi in the cottage - little consolation that it was available in the main hotel, a five minute walk away in the rain. If the weather is bad then car parking next to the cottage (The Old School House) can be tricky due to a narrow entrance. There is parking over the road and at the main hotel. I had a good night's sleep as the area is very quiet.
