Great for stopover

Pros: Proximity to bury
Cons: Lick of paint, carpets cleaned
Location: Easy to get taxi into bury
Check in fine, use of pool fine, clean changing rooms and pool area. Corridors and rooms tired looking but did the job for one night.

Golf and spa hotel

Posted 17-Jun-2014
On arrival we were shown to our room, the room was shabby, I.e cobwebs all round the window, towel rail held together by tape, curtains all creased and stained and the beds very uncomfortable. ......we tired to get some food only to be told they couldn't serve us any because of a function fhat was going on, they couldn't even serve us a drnk...........the hotel needs a complete overall. ..very rundown.

overpriced tired hotel

Posted 11-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
Couldn't believe i had paid £85.50 for the night. Stair well and corridor smelt musky and damp. Double bed turned out to be a single and a put you up. Bathroom panel was broken, wifi was useless and food poor. certainly will not going back.

"A Stich in Time saves NINE"

Posted 29-Apr-2014
Pros: FOOD & MOST OF THE STAFF (,LUKE WAS VERY SAN-FARIE -ANN WHEN I SAID ABOUT NIGHT NOISE. )THE YOUNG LADY IN THE BEAUTY ROOM WAS LOVELY.
Cons: NEEDS DECCORATING INSDE AND OUT! CARPETS NEED CLEANING. THE SWIMMING POOL AREA IS VERY UNPLEASANT..POOL NEEDS TO WARM UP!
The Hotel appearance out side was not very pleasing, silly repairs want doing all over the place .A Good walk around the Outside with weed killer would be good... weeds and long grass everywhere!!! The wooded part could be lovely instead it is full of abandoned plastic tree protectors!! Pieces of cladding popped Off.. A Ladder & an hours work on each would sort them out! whole of outside NEEDS Wood staining plus the window frames. Carpets inside need a good hoover all around the Edges. our bedroom carpet had a massive stain on it by one of the beds. The swimming pool floor was an absolute state , the pool was freezing! The stairs HAVE NO CARPET ON THEM, THE CLATTER OF UP AND DOWN STAIRS IS TERRIBLE IN THE BEDROOMS. THE BAR IS OPEN LATE WHICH IS FINE PROVIDING PERSONS GO TO BED QUIETLY AT 2.30 A.M!!! WE DID EXPECT IT TO BE NOISY SAT.NIGHT BUT CERTAINLY NOT SUNDAY NIGHT/MONDAY MORNING. GOOD POINTS.....GOOD FOOD , MOSTLY LOVELY STAFF...& comfy BEDS. VERY EXSPENSIVE PER NIGHT WITH THE GENERAL STATE OF THE HOTEL .

Friendly countryside getaway

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Staff so friendly, nice food in the bar and at breakfast (included in the deal). Being able to use gym, pool & spa as much as we wanted during our stay even after officially checking out made this such good value. Room facilities are not deluxe but perfectly adequate with all that you need and might expect. There was a wedding on during our stay but we didn't suffer any disturbance from the party at all nor from other guests late at night - surprisingly! Also staff were still attentive on reception & in the bar; so often all the attention goes on the function at expense of other guests, but that didn't happen here. Changing rooms, gym & pool area facilities clean and nice. (Didn't try a treatment which are extra). Good job they serve food till 9pm - it's quite a drive into town. All in all we had a really nice time & felt welcome, including when golf club members were around (I'm a mum whi stayed in a twin room with my 15 year old lad). Really good for a cheap all-in Easter treat :-)

Not great

Pros: We could take the dog!
Cons: Knock it down and rebuild it,
£99.00 for a Superior Room, not very pleasent, everything worn out and tired. Not quite sure what was superior about it really.

Nice Spa

Posted 25-Mar-2014 on Hotels.com
You can get some good deals at this hotel and overall it is very good value. The gym and spa provide all the usual amenities although some of the equipment in the gym could do with updating. The food is good and the service friendly. The rooms are a generous size and comfortable. The hotel is in a lovely rural location but is still just 10 minutes from the main car parks in Bury St Edmunds.
